    Light Reconnaissance Car [IMG]

Otter 1 Light Reconnaissance Car, C Squadron, 7th Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment, 3rd Canadian Division, UK, 1944

A General Motors (Canada) design for a four-wheel drive Light Reconnaissance Car. Much more rugged than its British counterpart but with a higher profile and still only armed with one Bren gun, a four-inch smoke discharger and Boys anti-tank rifle that would be fired through the narrow front visor. It carried a crew of three.

Originally the 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars, the 7th Reconnaissance Regiment served with 3rd Canadian Infantry Division in North West Europe. The yellow cross on the front shows that this car is participating in a pre-invasion exercise in Britain, acting as an 'enemy' vehicle.
