Username: Otto Postmark: March 7, 2016 From: Mystic Lake Casino, Prior Lake, Minnesota, USA Hello to the Rogues from Native land. I guess it's only fair that if I ask the rogues to send in field reports that I should participate as well, so here is my first submission. To answer the obvious first question; no I am not a gambler. Mystic Lake Hotel & Casino has a great stage venue for large events, and I was brought in to do some brief contract work over the weekend. Owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux community, there were a couple representatives who were available to provide historical information, but seeing as my time was limited and there wasn't much concerning the WW2 era, I decided to have Kilroy make an appearance. The gift shop sells both postcards and stamps, and has a mail drop in the store, so this was literally mailed from within the building.
It's an American casino. They all look quite nice from afar, but once you get close the façade begins to wear a bit thin. Due to my work I spend a good amount of time inside them, but it's never to gamble.
Many locals refer to it as "Mistake Lake". I'm not a fan of casinos either. I had stay overnight at a casino in northern Minnesota several years ago and wandered into the casino. The constant flashing and blinking lights and the noise of the slot machines just about gave me a seizure. The hotel was cheap, though.
Otto is a show girl. Loved that movie. Guessing the lights symbolize a giant TP. What is Mystic Lakes' legend, that makes it mystic
A quick google, and could not find any mysticism associated with Mystic Lake. Just sayin. ..i could see 'nice lake to camp by', or 'makeout point'...mystical is stretching it.
That is because it is not in the original photo... http://www.exploreminnesota.com/places-to-stay/1655/mystic-lake-casino-hotel
