    Sidney Phillips, who was 17 when he enlisted in the Marines the day after the Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, endured four months of brutal fighting on Guadalcanal and joined in the invasion of another Pacific theater island, New Britain.

    Too bad it was such a short article. Dr. Phillips seems like such an interesting, down to earth man.

    Other than The Pacific series..I also remember seeing Sidney Phillips on a documentary on Netflix and the guy still has that million-dollar smile like he did when he was a young soldier..just from ear-to-ear..great to see old boys like him who can still crack a smile from recalling horrific stories they have to tell.
