When it comes to the Yugoslav partisan and their resistance to the German,Italians armies it is noteworthy to mention all of the partisan formation were acting autonomously and independently, since TIto will be proclaimed a leader of Yugoslavia and the Yugoslav partisans in 1943 in Jajce,Bosnia, until most of the struggle was local within the borders of the individual republics. There was no organized Yugoslav resistance, which will appear in 1944 when the Red Army will enter the region and would find that the territory of Macedonia was liberated, which is 1/4 of Yugoslavia. The official tally for the Macedonian partisans is 300,000 strong army and 10,000 dead or wounded. On the territory of Macedonia the following enemy formations were involved:Germans,Italian,Bulgarians,Albanians.

The partisans were organized as a Shock Brigades and the basis of the Brigades were the detachment led by a commander. Each of the partisan detachments and brigades acted within their sector and were led a HQ with a political and military leadership. One of the known Brigades that was acting in Macedonia and Kosovo was the 3rd Macedonian-Kosovo Brigade, which would be formed in 1942,and would act in both Kosovo and Macedonia.
In Bosnia there were noteworthy operation carried in terms of Anti-partisan and counterinsurgency operation areon the rivers Neretva,Sutjeska and Drvar (done by major Otto Skorezny).
