You win, Sunny! This incident helped spur Hitler to invade Norway, and the British to counter-invade -- thus dragging that country into the war. Your turn.
okey, name this man, Here are some clues without giving too much away.... -He served on the eastern front until his death -He is a national hero in Germany today -His most famous quote... "God promised Abraham that He would not destroy Sodom if just ten righteous men could be found in the city, and so I hope that for our sake God will not destroy Germany" View attachment 7187
Yes, but it's very blurry and hard to make out. I spent a bit of time trying to find a picture where the name was difficult to read ...
BTW, for those who are wondering, Tresckow was one of the leading members of the July 20 plot movement. He was one of the early suppoerters for removing Hitler from power. In the movie Valkarie, he was the one who put a bomb in a wine box , which was put on a plane with hitler. But the bomb didn't detonate because of the cold temperatures up in the air. After the July 20 plot failure he committed suicide on the eastern front.
Well, I'm stumped. It's apparently not the truck that was the basis of the German 6-Rad series of armoured cars. Is it British? Or Italian? I just don't know.
I've been looking at pictures of German vehicles until my eyes bleed -- I didn't know there were that many different types! I've found a few with six wheels, but different types. Still looking ... So far the closest matches I've found are the Kfz 63, Kfz 64 and the Bussing-NAG G31 (Kfz 77). But none seem to be an exact fit, with the front wheels larger than the rear.
Don't want anybody's eyes to start to bleed, so, this hint will give it away as to the company. They made their fame in the railroad industry, and it isn’t Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG (Hanomag). And you don't need a model number as I have never seen one attached to the unit either.
Well, I've finally found the original picture: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/k/krupppkw.jpg Unfortunately, it provides only the information that it's a Krupp vehicle, 1939-40, and the letters K W are somehow related. It definitely isn't a Protze. W for Wagen?
You got it, that is a 1941 Krupp triple (three seat row) phaeton, twin axle; staff car. The K is for Krupp and the W is for Wagen, and that is where I found the pics as well. Then looked the rest up in a book on German Automobiles I had which covered the WW2 era. You're up!
No guesses? It's the heart of a top-secret device that was developed during the war, and was only used under very strict conditions. These conditions were relaxed for one desperate battle.
Is it some sort or part of a bomb? Although I don't think it is, but is it part of or have anything to do with an atom bomb? I have no idea... I am stumped!
