OK, here is one that will that will stump you for sure and it is WII history. The British had come up with an idea to build this aircraft carrier out of something very unique. What was the name of this Aircraft Carrier that was going to be built, and what unique materials was this Aircraft Carrier going to be made of?
It was the Habakuk (code name, sp?), and not to be made of ice exactly. That was one of the ingredients, but it was mxed with wood pulp (sawdust) at a 2:1 ratio (I think), and stronger than concrete. The name of the stuff was "Pyecrete" in honor of the scienetist Pye who had come up with the original idea. He, ironically, had nothing to do with the Pyecrete development.
You guys are pretty good, but I've got one more up my sleeve. 1. The design for this jet was actually made during WWII. What is the name of this very unique jet and for what country was it designed to attack? (this is only one of three designs). By the way, for extra "points" by what means did this jet take off? Good luck on this one.
"Sanger spaceplane, which was intended to be put on the back of a rocket sled. Once the sled accelerated to a sufficient speed, the spaceplane would have been launched off the back of it. It would have gone suborbital, bombed New York, and then, instead of turning around, continued on into the Pacific where a German (or Japanese) U-boat would have picked up both crew and vehicle. None of these planes was ever put to the test in a live bombing run. But all of them became fodder for the Russians and the Americans at the end of the war, as the race to capture German scientists intensified and the allies fell out among themselves and a new competition took shape. One that we should be thankful for. Who would we rather have faced in the late 1940s, an exhausted Soviet Union or a Nazi Germany that was busy consolidating its hold over Europe and turning its eyes over the Atlantic? In a sense, the big might-have-been of World War II is that, had it taken a different direction, it might have led to the first space war." http://autumnrain2110.com/blog/category/aircraft/
Alright, enough of this Tom Foolery. I'm done messin' around now. This is where you guys give up. What is the name of this aircraft carrier, and what country built it? HA HAH!
I always thought it was pretty common knowledge that the Germans were building an aircraft carrier...so am I up?
Dave, Let me tell you something... the young Jagdtiger is well known round' these parts for cracking any image. At a mere 17 years of age, this young man knows his history. I think a pat on the shoulder is in order Mark
I think you should read the "quiz" rules here Navy Dave. When another poster gives the corrrect answer, you have to let that poster have a turn not just post another picture! I got Habakuk, and Jagdtiger got Graf Zeppelin. It is not your turn anymore. It is either his or mine for a photo quiz.
Haha thanks for the kudos Mark! I don't have pic ready, but Clint you got the first question so why don't you take a stab at it
I was going to let you lead Jon, but here is a cutie. It is American of course, but which company, and what was its popular name?
Oops sorry guys, you'll have to forgive me. Extremely new to this and do not want to get off on the wrong foot here. Haven't read the rules yet. This is a pretty cool place to chat, and you guys really know your stuff, I'm very impressed. Wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers or step on anybody's toes. Really sorry about the posting thing. By the way, to all of you vets out there, thank you for your brave service and god bless you all. - "Freedom has a flavor the protected shall never know"
Dave, Your ok! I just want you to know that the chaps and rogues that roam these parts are on the level. Let this one roll off your back Feathers are fine in their normal position love the quote by the way... all the best Navy D Mark
For some reason I feel like you revealed the answer to this elsewhere in the forum.....can't remember where
