I was wondering, sorry if peeps find this offensive by the way

How do the Germans remember their fallen? We have our cenotaphs from ww1, our poppies and Armistice day. But what do the Germans do?

Remember they were there fathers, brothers and sons too

Have they been denied a chance to greive there dead?

    Poppy day

there are plenty of military graves and cemeteries I have visited and have been welcomed at in Germany but I don't know if they have a special day. There are always burning candles and purple ribbons and many stones have photos of the dead soldier on them. I did put an RBL cross on the 14/18..39/45 memorial at Altenahr when I was there last February.

I am currently in Edinburgh, and happened to be in Prince's street(just below the Scott monument) this morning when the two minutes' silence started. Amazing...almost everything and everyone stopped...Well, except the taxis...

Very nice, although I think it would have been better to have had all of the cartoons salute the veterans instead of having some making political comments. They could have left off criticizing the war in Iraq for one day, IMHO.
