A Young Soviet woman learning to shoot using a Mosin-Nagant rifle with a Model PE telescope. Young women and girls figured prominently among the early volunteers for the Red Army and for the front. In August 1941, 10,000 “Young Communists”, or Komsomol, many of them women, were sent immediately to the front to join the signals troops.
