Aw quit your damn bitchin' you bunch of pikers! We had to give up half of New Mexico, a third of Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Wyoming for crying out loud!
Today voters go to the polls in 11 rural northern Colorado counties to vote on a non-binding referendum on sucession. I didn't know it was rolling this far so soon. If that's what they want, then I hope they get self-rule. It will be a long haul, but worth it in the long run. If this issue is successful, then others will surely follow. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
Five of the Eleven voted to proceed with the idea further. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/11/05/at-least-5-rural-colorado-counties-vote-to-explore-secession/
This time it's the north that wants to secede from the south. Imagine that. Can't we all just get along. Urqh, can you play kumbaya on a bugle?
If the North does leave will they take all the northerners that are already down here with them??? That's one of my pet peeves, they move down here because they say they like the way things are down here and then they start changing things because, "that's not how we did it up north". Well move back. To be fair it is only a small, vocal minority of them.
The Toledo War. Michigan was thought to have lost at the time, since Ohio got Toledo. However, if any of you have been to Toledo you'd agree that Ohio got screwed in the deal. Michigan was awarded the upper peninsula in the compromise, which is a much nicer piece of real estate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toledo_War
The link you provided has it's own link to a Denver based newspaper. You can tell that it is against the secession movement to the title of the article and by further reading. The article points out that statehood would be a difficult process also says that the last time a state concede territory to another state was when Maine broke from Massachusetts in 1820. I guess they conveniently forgot when W.Virginia was admitted to the Union (as a slave state) in 1863 when it broke from Virginia.
I was over on the talk earlier and saw a secession type thread over there. It seems that Scotland wants to opt out of Great Britain and go it alone, and the thread was questioning what would the Union Jack (flag) would look like once Scotland left. The Scottish part of the flag is the blue background and the white "X". So, secession is getting popular in other places too these days. Maybe Sean Connery will finally be able to go home before he dies.
Here's the latest on the session front. http://americannews.com/california-break-away-49-states-happening/

We've got clowns here who want to rebuild Hadrian's Wall; despite the fact it's entirely in England anyway.
