Are books counted as documents for purpose of this display? Because I have a couple books both from the war and from the years immediately following (including an air raid protection book that survived the London Blitz).
I expect it would depend on the size of the books. Perhaps one of the moderators might comment. I know I would love to see the air raid protection book - particularly as I expect we don't have to worry about copyright!
I've added a photo album under my profile that has some photos of my Mum and Dad during the War years, in case anyone was curious about them after reading their letters. I need to do some editing to some I have scanned to bring in under the size guidelines as they were originally done between 300 and 600 dpi. I have some other photos etc still to scan and will probably add them there. I have some more documents as well that I have found to add to this thread.
I have some copies of orginal letters that my Grandfather received, letters from Eisenhower, Roosevelt and Truman! just check my profile and under photo book, and a reconnaissance letterhead and such.
If anybody has items they'd like digitized, send me a note. I can OCR from TIFF files, and convert most anything to TIFF. I just need a good quality image, please. I can also provide a PDF version if you wish. In return we'd like to post the docs on our sites, non-exclusive, of course.
What a great thread! I have a copy of a booklet called "Combat Tips" that was distributed to members of the 5th Army. I also have a copy of my father's Separation Qualification Record. I'll scan that in, and I hope some of the pages of the Combat Tips. I'm not sure if I can do the whole booklet, since it's nearly 60 pages and would require a lot of scanning and posting, but I'll see what I can do.
Here is the separation paper my father received when he was discharged. Sorry. It seems to be in a pdf format. I'll keep working on it.
I'm not sure. I think it is an old copy of the original, which I do not have. It is printed on both sides and is quite thick. The back is just a summary of pre-induction job and skills.
