    Nick:

beautiful piece was this secured through friends or online auctions or during the digs ? wonderful it is a piece I have been looking for - for years actually........

also have you found any flares to go with this plus the bakelight small container holding 5 flares, as I own one Sternsignalpatronen with the green star in the middle. one flar makred with a green band towards the bottom, green wax at the top of the round marked ion the aluminum side with a small black cmx.

and yes Skipper sound and directional equipment changed during thew ar to aid the individual Flak up to Batterie and larger in size with more side equipment in much bigger sizes and more of it..........you know the addage "bigger the better"

Hi Erich, the piece I bought from a friend of my, with it a bag full of signalcartridges that he dug up. I myself also found a lot of this ammunition here in the region and some time ago about 40 pieces in one ditch in the Huertgenforest.

Nick you always surprise me with the quality of the items you find. Getting a flare pistol is difficult, getting one in perfect condition is almost mission impossible. Thanks for postings the detailled pictures, I see you cleaned it very carefully without scrathing it when taking off the rust. it's actually the first time I see one.

Skipper, I didn't cleaned it al all. It was allready as beautiful as it is now.
Note; I didn't find this item with my detector, it has never layed in the ground. Al my dug-up items I show in the living history topic, in this tread I'll show my collection of stuff that I purchase.
The "bad condition" stuff I dig up, don't buy.:D

well was it found in a halftrack or recon soft bag of a forward line-man ? questions remain it is in wonderful condition where some of the later war issues being sold have too much of the patina/rust on the chamber-barrel and trigger guard and elsewhere

I have here a nice early German entrenching tool as well.

That's a bargain, they usually sell for double if not more if the leather is not cracked.

Excellent collection, thanks for the pics. Not that you would take it to the range, but does your K98 have a bright bore and head space? Is it matching?

The K98 is 100% matching, every screw and part of it is stamped with 8850 WaA63.
