Hi Mats I don't think changing the title will change the amount of spam you would get.:D
Does your provider have an anti-spam option? I have one, which combined with my Modzilla thunderbird mailbox nukes 99.5 percent of the spam and junk.

The gasmask I posted was found in an attic and besides a few dots of rust is pretty intact.

No bread bag Carl, except the branded part with the Swastika that was cut out out of one as a trophy in 1944.

I have more however. I went to see a friend and showed him my new Luftshutz mask. He then came up with another and asked
"where do you think this one comes from?"

With the exception of the canister which is slighty bigger both mask were almost alike so I said "German"?
    "Nope" he answered: "French!"

So I started looking for the reason why both army would have such similar masks and I found the following. Both armies had the SAME supplier in the Czeck republic (until 1939) !.
so my buddy said "You came with one mask, you're going home with two!"

I will do some cleaning and take pictures which I will scan tonight. I also got a French bottle .

I bought this WW2 French gas mask at a small village market that I came across in Boissey, Normandy, a few years ago. As you can see, it's in very good condition with clear markings.

    And on the filter

Not bad for only 4 Euros...:)

Neat, it looks like the mask itself has been repaired. I See how similar the cartridge look with the German one. I asked my friend how much he bought his and he answered he found it at the end of a flee market , when a vendor got tired of carrying it around from fair to fair and left it with the junk.

Hi Skipper, your bread bag part, must be a sight to see. A friend of mine offered me a nice Luftwaffe marked breadbag, but I passed it by. Now I kind of wish that I had bought it anyway. You and John both have some nice equipment in your collections. Im thinking of branching out of sorts, and thinking of collecting beltbuckles.

PS, your Lanters are some nice interesting pieces. I would not mind getting one that is Army marked-so I can have soem filed stuff to go with a display I plan on making once I get my Artillery Major completed.

Also, and im not sure if there are WalMarts in France yet, but, I was doing some looking and they have a small camping table w/ built in benches-that look like the WWII German field tables. I think they go for about $80 bucks. I almost bought one last weekend just for the display purposes.

Walmart selling camping tables that look like German field tables! Wow I'd love to see a picture of these.

Something else I am about to get: 2 WWII rolls of pure silk from the French army. These were used for mending uniforms. they are great for collectors who are restoring clothing. The colors are of course the exact kaki version of the unfiorms. I will post pictures of those too in a near future. It's all a matter of time .

    Fantastic stuff guys!
Skipper, I'm curious, do you know why the gas mask container has a brass liner?

    Thanks

Here is my French Gasmask with detailled pictures. See how it looks like the German one . You can see it's the same Czech manufacturer. The cansister I have is like the one John bought in Normandy , but the mask is quite different and totally looks like the German model.

If they are Wehrmacht they are worth it. The one I show is a Luftshutz (civilian INWWII) .The French one is a 1938 army one though. The Luftshuzt is worth a bit less than the wehrmacht ,but still interesting to get.
Be careful not to get a repro and make sure they have the spare glasses inside the lid, that's a plus. John also posted a user's manual (Gebrauchsanweisung) . There are hard to gat in original but I can send you a scan of a similar document and if you print it on both sides with a good printer it's almost a perfect imitation.

    Very nice canteen Skipper.

Skipper, the mask has not been repaired, what I think you are refering to is selant that has been spread across the stitched seams to airtight them.

Skipper is correct, make sure they are not repro. Some of the chinese produced copies on the market today are very good indeed, even down to the 'D' stamp on the bottom of the cannister!
The straps tend to let them down and obviously the 'newnes' of the paint and cannister itself.

This is an instruction booklet that would have been issued with a Luftschutz gas mask.

This is even better John, the one I have is just the brown, single two sized Luftschutz leaf you showed in the box a few posts above.

Thanks Skipper, the booklet has 16 pages in total and as you can see from the photos, it's in almost unissued condition.

    These are my Reichsmarks notes

These are nice to have too. I have French WWII bills and coins , I posted these somewhere on the forum some time ago, I figure in the military section.

I have really interesting news today. I have been living in a village for years without knowing there is a huge U.S. army tank truck trailer abandonned in a field (more like woods now), withing walking distance from my home! Can you imagine ? I will have to cut a lot of branches and nettles to ge tthere, but I will try to get some pictures this afternoon and see what it is.

Hi Skipper, I wish I had a way to post a pic of it but don't have a way to do so. As a matter of fact, im going to that same Wal_Mart tomorrow afternoon and can maybe confirm some details or a product number?? if you want me to? I think that the table I saw was painted Red, but not sure?? The price I think was around $80 bucks. That's a good idea in getting original thread-in case you decide to build complete uniformsand make a nice display. I'm currently trying to talk a friend of mine out of a Jager Leutnants tunic. He's toying with idea of selling but not yet certain.

Although the majority of my militaria collection consists of german items, I do have some allied equipment. This is a pair of U.S. army engineers pliers/cutters
