Great site, those pics are odd in that they actualy show people as opposed to the 'german war machine' we are used to seeing. What I mean is that they are unusual in that all the people look like human beings.

Im VERY glad you found and looked at that site. You are correct in what you say. If you look into many of the things I post links on, you WILL be amazed at what you will see (sometimes). Im amazed at what I stumble across from time to time.

Glad you found it. [IMG] :D

It is a great site, I am always interested in seeing sites showing photographs taken by soldiers during the war, particularly if they are personal photos rather than propoganda. Sometimes looking at photographs of German soldiers at then end of the war, seeing the exhaustion on their faces and the despiration in their eyes I end up thinking 'he deserved to win' and I have to remind myself that they were the enemy. I am trying to gather together my grandfathers photographs from when he served in Europe and hopefully will be able to set up a web site so that people can see them. I am hoping to get his memoirs up there too, I am working on scanning/typing them up right now so I will let you know what happens.

Stefan, guess what, you can make scans of them and send them to Otto and he will set up something for you for your photos. He is going to do that for me with my collection. I have some great press photos, a few Combat shots, and many personal shots including mail call, and training shots.

The photos I will have here will be mainly Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe, but have some near photos from the Heer and Waffen SS.

Just send Otto an email and let him know that you want to set up a site with photos and he can create one for you if you wish.

If you would rather make a site of your own, you can have it linked to this site with no problem. I prefer my stuff to be here on his site because not only do my photos get exposure, but they will help the site grow and they will be something neat as research material for whomever wants to see them.

That would be great, I have to hunt them down first. I think I will get his memoirs scanned first. Also I need to sort some stuff out with my dad, like how it should be presented. I may e-mail him sometim but dont expect anything soon.
