The local radio station has just reported that the Falkirk couple being treated for "Swine Flu" will be allowed home shortly. Some deadly pandemic...... Urgh- So it's YOUR fault, eh?

I'm with Gordon on this one....we'll know when to panic when we're told to panic....until that time I'm only going to panic in private...Not infecting the masses with my panic...not that I go to church much to affect the masses.. But if you do have to panic, and you in fact get a panic attack, do not on any account contat your Local GP doctor...they have their hands full at moment with flu cases. Apparantly breathing on others causes the problem, so if you think you have flu a panic attack could be deadly serious...my advice, dont go near anyone who looks in the least as if they may be breathing...Dont travel to USA or Mexico, dont in fact talk to any foreigners as we all know coughs and sneezes and muslims and Irish spread diseases...its govt advice on the FO web site...Dont go out...atay at home...and when the lights go on again...all over the world...there will be blue birds over the white cliffs of Dover. I'm with Gordon as the powers to be and the media hype it all up to scare us. Look at all those AIDS adverts back in the 1980's some what OTT. What about the CJD claims thousands of people will be infected in 10 years time? Well 10 years on and there is no evidence of that, SARS hyped up then Bird Flu with that outbreak in China and now Swine Flu, yes I take note but I am not going to buy the BS hype about these outbreaks. Every year here in the UK the media hype up Flu season and the government tells pensioners to get the jab. This nothing more than deliberate hyped BS to control us by fear.

Oh knows, a Civilian died in a Warzone - STOP THE WAR! Oh knows, a few Mexican Pig Farmers died from the Flu - its the Black Death all over again! The truth of the matter is that you're more likely to die in a Plane Crash that contract the disease (Swine Flu) or even know some one who has contracted it. Mexico went a little extreme closing everything down because a few people caught a particularly nasty strain of Flu - and Swine Flu is treatable, lets not forget, they have medicine that cures it! - while over in the US, the 'regular' Flu you are all aware of does kill people every year but you don't see schools being closed because its 'that time of year'.

Get married, remarried or have a relationship outside marriage My local Hasidic community would not be able to guarantee that and they are amongst the most socially controlled groups in any society. No-one disagrees with your premise that many of the health issues mentioned are somewhat overblown but unfortunately until we find another way to get health message through to the -30 per centiles (the congenitally stupid) the OTT media system is probably with what we are stuck. MSRA causes far more problems to the NHS than any aledged media generated panic. The other illness that you mention Aids, SARS and Influenza are serious illnesses most people who die from them die of secondary complications such as pneumonia and if you consider pneumonia a minor problem I suggest you speak to Kai-Petri. I take it you have an MB -Edinbrugh was it, I am sure Drew has been through Aids awareness training, irrespective of any knowledge of life that he may have, which probably qualifies him more than many. If we start demanding academic qualifications of members it is going to be a very quiet forum. Muss you can close it with no complaint from me. I don't think there is much more to say for a few days on the outbreak but I feel the W.H.O raising the threat level from 3 to 4 was some what not needed based on the data to date.
