I can think of a few Canadians... and I have heard some quite funny stuff by an Iranian lady. Beyond that? Nope.

That's the language barrier troubling you, then. There are plenty of Dutch comedians who perform in roughly the same style as the ones you mention. I also know a few German ones.

Boom Chicago Amsterdam is Dutch but their sketches are in English, maybe you could check that out. They definitely poke fun at the Dutch a lot.

 Now I'm embarressed. Number of posts is meaningless, but thanks for the thought, I'm very thin skinned on th is subject, Simon has done a very good job of summing up my view on this type of "humor".

Well i'm sorry, I think Australians (Like Me! :D ) expect to be able to rip into people and assume that they'll take it lightly... Because thats what we do over here

If you think that show is offensive they dont yo watch ALI G. For example that time that the guy from the show froget his name playing the character Borat goes into a bar in Arizona? and plays a racist song.
"in my country there is problem and that problem is the jew". The character pretends to b from Khazakstan and all the parts of the show with Borat negatiely portrays the kazaki peoples as backwards. What is funny is that noone evan stopped him from singing his song some evan joined in. Go cry about that because Talking to Americans is nothing compared to ALI G.

Yeah, the fact is that comparing the humour value of Ali G to Rick Mercer is like putting a heavy-weight boxing champion into the ring with a six year old. Ali G has it down. Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays Ali G, is a Jew himself, which I think gives him some right to "parody" himself. I bet some people don't find him funny either, though. Opinions. :D

let me see if i have this right?
theres a canadian tv show (GOVT SPONSERED NO LESS) that ambush interviews only americans, with the sole purpose of makeing the yankee interveiwee look stupid?........i had no idea,...how utterly biggoted and chickenshit!,,,this kinda insult would never be produced on american tv in a thousand years...forget p.c. what about fair play?...imagine an american show called "mexicans sure are dumb"we could interview poor campinsinos about arcane us history then we could all have a good laugh when they get it wrong.....mercers show says more about canada than it does about america.

These are the points I've been trying to make in my rants. The Mercer shows are degrading to Canadians, he should stick to satire, not insults.

That's good to hear, but you never know when someone might be offended by something like this. It is better to prevent than to cure, after all.

Besides, such comments may offend and serve no real purpose, so they're still not a particularly good idea.

Sorry, being an Admin goes with being a bit of a rule-grinder sometimes. ;)

Did I start it? If I did I appoligize, it was not intentional.

Just making the point if your going to make such a fuss about such a little show just watch the Ali G show it is evan worse. I think it makes Americans look worse to sing a song about throwing jews down the well than awnser a stupid question wrong.
But that is the problem with comedy what some people make a joke there are always those that get mad.
