One of my faves. But I would say it´s not for everyone :)

    Some dissapointments:

Windtalkers, PH, We Once Were Soldiers, Soldier J.Ryan, God & General, Enemy a.t. gates.... and much more if I have time to think about it :p..........if u wanna know why I dont liek them, ask :p

    Some of the best:

    Thin Red Line
    Apocalypse Now
    Das Boot
    Talvisota
Remagen&Arnheim are ok, but not outstanding
Kingdom Of Heaven (minus the romance and religious stuff)
Platoon is also ok for movie which views a war in a war (means the duel of both the sergeants)
    Waterloo.... sadly not very historical
Master&Commander (minus the too much talking of the doc and cap)
    Downfall / Der Untergang
    Path Of Glory
    Breaker Morant

I wanted to ASK you guys about GOOD roman war films if there are any ?? I mean how the Legions fought etc. There are pieces in Gladiator and the series "Rome" ..

Uuumh...are only WW2 films meant for this thread ???

If no I could add the movie "ironclad" to my "kind of fave" list. It had some good battle scenes as well a nice castle as well 2 or 3 actors were top. Quite unknown film I believe.

How about “Jugmeister?” Yes it’s a bit more formal and I know this is a very old thread.

I have a question about the movie “Monuments Men.” I rather liked it but it could’ve been much better. I knew about the actual mission of their unit so I guess at least their story was told a bit.

Anyway, my question, or rather my observation was why were not all the men commissioned officers? Why were some NCOs and enlisted men? Obviously these men were highly educated and many if not all held masters and PhDs. The movie didn’t touch on this subject and it got me to thinking about it.

Any and all “relevant” input is welcome.

First off, the newly caught men would have to meet certain criteria to be commissioned. The men could have the expertise but not the sheepskin. AND some just wouldn't want to be officers. I turned down a seat at the Naval Academy Preparatory School when I reported to boot camp in 1969.
