Martin, I've never once in my 43 years on this earth been afraid of anything here. Lots of wide open spaces and nice people. Just stear clear of the NY, LA and Chicago metro areas and there's nothing to fear at all.

Ahhh,, But Historian...Scotland,, it aint all bad surely..No University fees to pay while in England there are big debts on the way for our students..is that still the case? The old law system of Not Proven...Why cant we have that south of the border..And I believe like Wales, the old Perception drug if Ive got the right spelling is freely available amongst other drugs we are not allowed to use without a court case down south... There are the Highland walks, the bat trip to Sky..the ferry to the islands...but please not on a Sunday..ok, there are the deep fried mars bars I suppose and the case if a Scot in a bar tells you that you are sitting on his bar stool unlike in England where you would tell him to get lost, with a Jock you would be advised to move immediately...

Asbo here another there, oh and Ill just throw one over there too...A little one they just threw into the mix this week..dont leave your wheely bin out overnight...you'll get a little warden guy on his scooter taking a pic and putting your 60 pound fine thru your letter box before you can say I was on holiday. Those lights your shining into your garden...ok they dont shine on the neighbours,,,but only one needs to complain now and theres your 60 quid fine to boot. Put that light out....Dont drop that paper their madam, but since you have,,,yes please do put it in the bin now...but Im sorry you still get this little momento..that will be 60 pounds please....
2 teenagers around a shop....oh dear me no..ok they both are queens scouts, holders of Duke of Edinborough awards...A students..but both of you toghether wanting a coke at the same time...its all a bit fishy...move along now...and dont come back to soon your on camera...
Oh the good old cameras....everywhere...but never seem to work when a pensioner is actually mugged, or a hit and run occurs or especially when the police need to look into activities of their own staff..whoops no film in it..hey its digital...opps sorry cant find anything....
Nanny state laws once in like all laws, are never repealed by; the next incumbent government. Thats why personally I agree with some of the anti terrorism stuff we have now..But a full reading of some rely on immense trust being placed in the hands of our betters...Laws that wont probably be enacted by theml, but written down and passed for use....maybe Tony and his mob are not going to use them to their full extent..but lets not be surprised when 20 years on down the line...a far left wing or right wing govt, we like to call them left of centre or right of centr these days as it sounds so much nicer..they decide to use them to their FULL extent..Im looking for an island too now..And Im labour..its just a pity this lot in power never were.

We've had student loans up here for about six years; I'm currently twelve grand in debt before I finish my course!

Grime, crime, cement, smog & slime.
Alaska is wide open if you like fishing.
They either also used to, or still do pay people for living there, in the form of a state rebate. At least I heard this from a retired air force (swine) as they call themselves.
Also about Alaska from an x co-worker who said..."You know all that stuff you've collected that's in your yard? Well 9 months out of the year you don't have to worry about it, because it's all covered with snow!"
