When most soldiers get into town and off on leave most think of having sex( good time drinks ect.), same is true before they ship out they go clubbing.

...and the same is true about most young men in civilian employments too. I can't really see any connection.

the human mind is not a weapon . a stout stick or 2 lb rock is a better weapon than a human mind , haif of which are encased in female skulls, btw ...any good random 200 lb street thug with a luke warm iq can beat any three universty proffesors on the subway to near death with his bare hands and boots in about 7 minutes .

weapons themselves are not evil or good but merely tools . a glock pistole can be carried by a decorated police sgt or by a pedophile kidnapper , the glock itself has no opinion in the matter.

That is the weapon that I would choose, followed closely by its cousin Napalm.

I know I know, the post is five years old but,:

Human minds thought up weapons. Let's not confuse Intelligence with the ability to create havoc. On top of that Fear is a weapon utilized to stir the emotions and at the root level the cause of War.

Weapons aren't inherently evil; they are simply tools designed to fulfill a specific tactical requirement. For instance, flamethrowers don't seem so evil when you're the one tasked with clearing a cave or bunker. They are logical, practical and effective. That's also why most military equipment from ships to aircraft to tanks to small arms are so attractive. Their beauty lies in their design being strictly for practicality, effectiveness, and lethality not for any other concerns. Strictly function over form. The same reason sharks, lions and tigers are so mesmerizing, they are the apex in predator lethality, designed for lethality.
The more I thought on the question, I could only come up with two that were evil. Chemical weapons/poison gas (and it is a weapon most nations generally abhor) and the Nazi gas chambers/concentration camps. The later because it was strictly to kill non-combatants in a highly efficient way. Soldiers generally understand they are to kill enemy soldiers and the enemy soldier will do their best to do the same to them. Unarmed civilians, the elderly and children are generally off limits as primary targets, and most soldiers on both sides abide by that distinction, collateral damage is accepted as not completely preventable, but should be avoided to the greatest extent practical.

Spot on. The pioneers in the US lived on the edge of civilization and a rifle was a means of getting meat.

    Hello, ridiculous old thread.
    What USMCP said, basically.

Years ago, a grievously right-on aunt:
"I can't imagine anything more horrific than dying in a nuclear holocaust."
    My old man:
"Well, I wouldn't think getting a Crimean lance up the Jacksie was any sort of picnic either."

Funny what stays with you since childhood.

    The weapon is rarely 'evil'.
Weapons exist, often as adapted 'tools'. Always have, always will.
    Intent: There's your evil.

Peaceniks wanted the bomb to be utterly evil, so pop culture bought into it.
