Freddie, "Rubbish" is about the kindest thing I can say to that lot. How can encouraging under-age sex be the answer? Kids have the right to enjoy their childhood as long as they want to, not until the Liberals decide they "should" be growing up. The British Medical Association has spent almost a decade (and millions of £'S of MY taxes) peddling anti-smoking propaganda to kids, but STILL moans that more kids than ever are taking up smoking. So, now we've proven that kids are going to smoke anyway, can we see the same sort of laissez-faire attitude as there is to under-age sex? Not bloody likely-smoking isn't PC. That's why the same idiots who encourage under-age sex won't be handing out cigarettes to kids. It's sad that all the so-called Liberals seem to be caught in a free-love timewarp circa 1970. I'll give it a decade, and the same people will be screaming blue murder about an epidemic of cervical cancer that's suddenly become a scourge among women in their 20s. And of course, there'll be NO connection between this and starting a sex life unnaturally early; anyone who suggests otherwise will be written off as a fascist. I also don't believe that we WILL be facing a similar situation to AFrica in 30 years-that smacks too much of the usual Liberal attempts to give us all a guilt-trip about the continent. Not so long ago, the same tossers insisted that North Sea Oil was doomed to run out in 2000; it's still here (naturally), but where are all the doom-sayers? Still cringing from being caught out. I stopped listening to "Doomsday" reports about Africa 10-15 years ago, because they always came from supposedly intelligent middle-class people. It's almost as if they're on a permanent guilt-trip because Mater and Pater had the cheek to be able to put food in the cupboards, and send them to private schools, while people were starving. Not interested in other people's hang-ups, so why do they insist on ramming it down the throat of the rest of us? Do it to THEM, and they'd start whingeing about civil liberties being infringed! How is this unnatural? Once the human body is biologically able to reproduce, Nature starts interacting to achieve one single thing: reproduction. Why is it that ovulating-women look prettier and are happier and 'willing' precisely that day? If it was unnatural, Human kind would have perished in the Middle Ages and the Rennaisance when people had kids at 13 or 14… Of course life was much, much shorter and they had to take advantage of the 40 years they had to live, but it doesn't change the fact that it is not unnatural. We now know that an early-pregnancy affects the physical development of a woman and that teenagers are not, most of the time, mentally capable of raising a child properly. But ignorance causes too many early pregnancies, too much destroyed lifes and horrible and truly unnatural acts such as abortions (illegal and very dangerous abortions, if I may say). Well, not Africa then. What about Russia, a country which, at present rates, will be facing an African-like situation in some years. A country within Europe. OK, be blind and think 'it can't happen to us'. It can happen, it might or might not happen, there's a posibility and it must be faced. I don't know if numbers mean anything to you, but 60% of the children of the entire African continent (that is not older than 12) are infected with AIDS. Even in the African version of the telly show Sesame Street a character ill with AIDS has been included to reach the infant population which lives with that problem every day. SIXTY-PER-CENT! That means that only 4 out of 10 Africans of the new generation will reach their teens, not even adulthood. The population of Africa will decrease from 600 million to 350 in less than 30 years, and if the problem persists the first ever populated-continent will be the first to de-populate… The Africans are facing extinction, my dear Gordon. And most Westeners fail to see it. In Christmas I travelled to Brazil and gave a charity concert for children with AIDS and was glad to see how many people is aware of the problem and willing to help. I visited an orphanage with 600 children with AIDS and saw many of them in the terminal phase of the decease, dying children 8 or 9 years old. Do not dare tell me it's not such a big problem and that it 'ain't goin'a get ya'… you haven't seen what I've seen. It's easy to complain sitting behind your computer and say: 'I go to church, I pay my taxes and I complain about what I like'. Yeah… the world's better every day with that.
Freddie, There are lies, damned lies....and so-called health statistics relating to Aids. I always suspect "figures" for Aids infection, since most of them come from people with a vested interest. That's ME being "bloody Practical". If that's your idea of blind, where do I apply for a guard dog?
