I understand entirely where Mort is coming from. It's especially frustrating when you work so hard and give up so much to give people freedoms and then they use those freedoms to criticize the very people who gave them their rights in the first place. As well as to make poorly informed decisions.

A lot of people do seem to have a scary obsession with the Nazis. I think that some of this stems from the fact that so few people really know about what did happen. They think it was just another group of guys fighting a war, and often forget or maybe are undecuated about the atrocities that occured.

Atrocitites happen in war - every side commits some acts that are questionable, or just downright wrong. But that's war. It's entirely different when an atrocity is the result of a cultural belief - and on the repetitive scale of the death camps.

The bottom line and to try to answer Morts question is that I think a lot of it stems from overall ignorance. People aren't as educated on the matter as they should be and as a result make poorly informed decisions and statements. It's all part of being young and inexperienced in life.

There's no video game out there where you take hundreds of innocent people, cram them on a train, and haul them to a death camp, soleley because of their religious affiliation or ancestry. More still, there's no video game where you have to be one of those people who is hauled away...

As i am myself still young and foolish, i hang around in groups where sometimes some of these neo-nazis appear, and i must say, they aren´t the brightest of the bunch.

That may contribute as to why they adopt such a mentality that Nazis were 'cool'. These are usually the same guys who swear by "white power" and call themselves "White Nationalists". I once even met a neo-nazi who told me that one of his parents were jewish and that he is a "nazi" because he doesnt like immigrants. It´s popular to be a "nazi" nowadays, so some feel the need to play "follow the leader". :insane:

How many here differentiate between the "Nazis","Neo-Nazis and "German -Worshipers"? There seems to be some here that while adoring the WWII German Military are not "Nazis" or "Neo-Nazis".

Ummm. Actually I think there is a game where you are a Concentration Camp prisoner. I remember reading a review of it awhile back, Can't remember the name though right now.

    Here it is,

    Holocaust Survivor Criticizes WWII Game

    36
[IMG] The game "Imagination is the Only Escape" recently sparked controversy, becasue a holocaust survivor condemned the game. Jack Kagan says that he is mad at the concept of the game.

The game is about a boy in east France after the Germans invaded France, and the only way to escape the horror is through fantasy.

    He said:

"The Holocaust is serious for all humanity and I don't think anyone should make this kind of game. I'm very upset by it," Mr Kagan said.

The game is being developed by 21-year-old Briton Luc Bernard, whose mother is Jewish. It is being produced by Alten8, a private company licensed to develop games for Nintendo UK.

Mr Bernard, who now lives in France, told the JC that the game was intended to educate people about the Holocaust.

"This is to educate children. I don't find war to be a game and this will not contain any violence. Lots of other war games just have a lot of shooting and don't really show what war is, but that's not what I'm doing," he said."

But Mr Kagan said: "This is not educational. Holocaust education should not be done through games of this nature. People can read and watch things about the Holocaust, they do not need these kinds of games."

This is such an emotive issue. I am a German-worshipper, (this is not a phrase I like to use) because of their efficiency, This doesn't make me a neo-nazi or racist. The way the Weirmacht took over countries, apart from England, ha ha! Was so spot on! If there was land joining Europe to Britain, we would all be talking German in Britain, that is a fact! It is sad about the holocaust & hopefully all nations have learned from it, that it should never happen again. I said earlier I am a German-worshipper, but to me the allies were my choice. I was looking at it logically. Incidentally, my Father served in the REME in Palestine in WW2.

When I was younger, I had fascination with tanks and airplanes. Because the Wehrmacht had so many interesting designs of both I was very interested in the German aspect of the war. This interest led me to a better understanding of the evil that was the Nazi Third Reich.

Working at federal prison here (I teach construction trades...Hey if you saw what they paid me to do what I do you would too ...GS 11 step 10)... When you have neo-nazi white supremists with their "alias'" tatooed on their foreheads like "Lowbrow" or "Stupid" (no, you can't make stuff like that up with a straight face) you get some idea of what mentality you are dealing with....

Why would you use a phrase like "German Worshipper" just for ww2? I mean, i like Germany as a country, always wanted to visit the place.

And Mortman, such a weird thing has also happened that i met a neo-nazi who was actually intelligent, you could talk with him for hours, but only if you stayed away from the topic Fascism or Nazism.

So it´s the same as modern Teenagers, (Fruits, Guidos, Emos?) they need some content in their otherwise so boring lives, so they gather in big groups and look the same and think the same. I don´t know if theres a saying for it in english, but in Finnish theres one like "Stupidity grows in groups."

For the older Neo-nazis i have no explanation, youd think that when people grow up theyd get wiser, but i guess some do not...

No, but it makes you something else. You must have been having a very selective reading of this forum, haven't you? Beating inferior enemies like the Poles? Dutch? Belgians? French? Getting the navy wiped out in the Norwegian campaign? Have you ever gone through this thread, for instance, or is it too much to ask of your sensitivities?

Oh really? They were so efficient were they? There is quite alot of information to the contrary out there and here. Well I guess that may be true. They were sure good at murdering innocents. And they were sure efficient enough to start losing the war pretty early. Especially after they had attacked and occupied all those small and ill prepared countries that had no chance of stopping them. They were so efficient that the military had to loot the other countries for supplies and equipment. The military was so efficient that they were demodernizing as the war went on.

"Volumes have been written on the equipment of the German Army of World War II, including tanks, trucks, motorcycles, weapons, and personal equipment, but little has been written on the horses that made up 80% of its transportation. Horses pulled everything an army needed in the field by wagon or on its back and more horses were used in World War II than in any other war in history."

Horses of the German Army in World War II. Paul Louis Johnson
