He recently said he had taken singing lessons in his old age...He says he is pleased with the results. I had to listen to this classic today: 3MCs and 1 DJ - This DJ is a world champion...you can see why the Beatie Boys went with him. A brilliant listen...
I didn't want to clutter up USMCPrice's new thread : check it out ; http://ww2f.com/threads/merry-christmas-to-our-forum-members-2022.77482/#post-886340 But he got me thinking and searching so here's what I recently listened to.
I don't often listen to much but when I do I choose the Classics. Gordon Lightfoot was one of those. He recently passed and a lighthouse north of Duluth Minnesota (that only shines on the anniversary of the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald) will be shining bright one evening for him. TWO HARBORS — Split Rock Lighthouse will shine its beacon Wednesday night in honor of the late Gordon Lightfoot. It's a rare honor: The beacon is seldom lit, with an annual exception being Nov. 10 to mark the anniversary of the 1975 sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. A 1976 song by Lightfoot, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," has moved millions of listeners with the true story of the Lake Superior catastrophe. "He was an amazing storyteller," Split Rock site manager Hayes Scriven told the News Tribune when reached by phone Tuesday. "When you listen to that song, you feel like you're there. You can see what he's talking about, very vivid." In fact, said Scriven, it was Lightfoot's song that inspired former lighthouse manager Lee Radzak to initiate the tradition of lighting the beacon for the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1985, the 10th anniversary of the shipwreck. "He was coming home one day," said Scriven, "and the song 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' came on the radio, and he decided that night, because it was Nov. 10, that he was going to go and light the beacon for the Fitzgerald ... every year, it grew from that."
Nobody listening to music here anymore? I love X ( not elon evil X ). But- X - Hillbilly music from LA ,lol, back in the day. Who evolved into the Knitters. And this song in particular, speaks volumes . To me.
Here is some good entertainment. Trust me. If want to go to the juice immediately- go to 25 min +. From there, it goes to eleven. Stay tuned to how Ozzie was accused of evil worship, and how one of the hollywood hosts noticed superbowl nuances.
Actually, the only time I listen is when I’m in the car and listening to Sirius Radio. Then it’s Willie’s Roadhouse or Escape soothing and great classic easy listening. I love piano music. My grandson plays a piano very well. He plays classical music and some of Billy Joel. He and his friend on harmonica did “piano man”. He is eighteen and started playing 10 years ago. Otherwise I sometimes watch piano videos or old classic country songs on YouTube.
One of my grandsons plays the Sax and it's like pulling teeth to get him to play. And he's really good. To top it off he isn't that bashful on stage ? The other started the guitar but it's even harder to get him to uncase it.
The oldest has played the Sax for seven years, Senior now, and the youngest switched from trumpet to Clarinet with occasionally getting out the guitar. Oldest went and got himself a mouth harp and I've got a sneaking suspicion that was just to annoy his Mom ! I'm taking him a harmonica to further his ambitions.
