Spend a lot of time watching a channel called "That's 60s", full of clips from Hullabaloo, Shindig, Beat Room etc.

If I recall correctly they only played a short part of the overall work in the movie.

    Sadly, yes.
But it was rather confusing. I had hoped for some action in the film, not too much thought.
Then as i grew older, discovered stanley kubric. ...There seems to be some discussion on the nets ( not me ) regarding how some aspects of the 'films' taken on the moon seemed ...

Yes Poppy - You read about this and theres people who laugh, people who believe...I watched a doco on the subject and they interviewed Donald Rumsfeld no less who worked on the space program - And he Chuckled and said yes we filmed the landing on the moon...As a precaution.
Stanley had just finished filming 2001 - His (very impressive) sets were still in the large film studio he filmed the moon scenes on.
The problem NASA faced was this - Would the tv cameras work on the moon? Would they go to all this trouble and expense only to find no one can see the "proof" of being on the moon because the cameras wouldn't work?? Well that wasn't good enough for the government, so they wanted a back-up in case the cameras wouldn't function on the moon (they asked the experts and they said they had never put a tv camera on the moon so couldn't guarantee anything.)
So...And this is according to Rumsfeld himself, they asked Kubric (my favourite Director) to come in and film a fake landing. Kubric wasn't a fan of the government or the idea and refused. He didn't want a bunch of public servants messing with his stuff.
The government then said to Kubric if he didn't agree he would never be allowed to film on government land again, that would include the White House too of course...Stanley was in the process of filming his new film which featured a scene in the White House and eventually said that he wouldn't direct the film but would come in and supervise (again he didn't want his stuff damaged or stolen).
Apparently after a half hour of watching the landing scene being filmed Kubric blew up saying that no one would believe the rubbish they were doing and bit by bit took over the film, so it wouldn't be so embarrasing...The Government (again according to Rumsfeld) paid a couple of young actors who hadn't made it yet to be the astronaughts on the film - The deal was they would get an astronomical amount of money, in return they would give up acting and go be a no-body for the rest of their lives. Of course they agreed.
The thing is we all know the cameras worked on the moon and the fake footage wasn't needed. Some of the photographs (and some footage) taken of the fake landing have made their way into the public domain and they are shown to be fake - Making people believe that the whole thing was fake.

    Cool...Pops.
Jones comes to Australia plenty of times...On Hey Hey its Saturday he turned up and sang with Australia's favourite singer John Farnham...I see it as the battle between Wales and Australia (With Australia winning) - They ended up doing a concert together...

And here they are together singing...ACDC!

Buddy stopped by for refreshments today. His uncle played with Nazareth back in the day. I have the American release on wax.
