Thanks for the further greetings, and - likewise, Paul. Jan - the graves are at Lommel Soldatenfriedhof in Belgium. I see you have an interest in U-Boats. I was friends with an ex-U-Boot crewman who lived near me (he was a POW who stayed on after the war) and spent many an entertaining hour in his company. Sadly, he died about 2 months ago. Dave.
Yes, the page wich is in my signature U-Historia, Ubootwaffe 1939-1945 is dedicated to the History of the U-Bootwaffe in Spanish and I collaborated habitually in the pages. What is the name, age and U-Boote of this person? In which POW camp is interned? The prisoneers interned in British camps is a history a few unknown.
Jan. His name was Bill Lutz (I assume that he was a Wilhelm, but he was always known as Bill) and he was interned for a time at the POW camp at Oswaldtwistle near Accrington, Lancashire. No idea on which boat(s) he served - he never went into great detail (like the other 2 "local" German servicemen he was friends with (the pub in which he drank was like a German version of the British Legion some nights!). I never pressed him for any further information than that he was willing to volunteer. He was 88 years old when he died. I'll miss him. Dave
Dave: In U-Boat Crew Lists you found Lists of U-Boote crews. Its very possibly that Lutz are one of this persons. You are very affortunated for known at this man. Thanks for share this information with me.
Thanks for the link, Jan. Most interesting. I think I'll attempt to get in contact with his son and see if I can find further details (if even he knows them!). dave.
