im looking for information on how to track a soldiers identity through an army issue weapon . i have inherited a walther ppk that was removed from a german soldier in north africa . it was removed by the man who had shot him . is there some way to trace this ?
Impossible task I'm afraid, unless the soldier did something special to his pistol, i.e. etched/engraved his name...or anything that could relate to him, sorry! a non starter...
I would say impossible too, not to mention that this could have been a re-issued weapon, a borrowed one or taken in the midlde of a battle by the Gemran from a man who had died previoulsy but who happened to have a better gun, or just a loaded one .
if possible maybe or maybe not but can you track the Allied soldiers service ? what branch and where was the shooting, etc. of course then you have to then cross-check what AFrika Korps units were in this area..............what a huge undertaking. anyway we can see scans of the PPK ?
