Summer is over and I´ve begun modelling on a regular basis again.

    The season is started off with a 1/72 scale Fokker E.III ( Eduard ), a 1/72 scale A-37 Dragonfly ( Academy ) to be finished in Peruvian colours, a nearly finished 1/35 scale BTR-80 ( Dragon ), a 1/35 scale M21 Mortar Carrier ( Tamiya ) and a 1/35 scale M4A3 (76)W HVSS Sherman ( Dragon ).

that sure is quite a lot!
As for me, I have started to try and paint a DC-3 Dakota. hard job, because the decalls are already installed. (it was some old model I still had somewhere) the aluminium belly does look very nice now though!
By the way, any ideas on how I could make a civilian plane look wheathered?

Why not paint over it all and add new decals?

    Weathering -
how complicated do you want it?

A good trick is the use of a silver pencil on the edges of hatches/doors/inspection panels that were regularly used on the plane to similate chipped/worn paint.

Some modellers spray the tops of their plane models with a slightly lighter shade of the base colour to give a 'bleached-by-the-sun' effect.

However, I have just realised that you have an aluminium-finish model, so none of that works...

You could try mixing paints to get slightly different shades of aluminium to use on the flaps, panels etc (check with colour photos to see which panels were different shades first!). A polish with toothpaste actually brings up metal-effect paints really well, but do not do this if the transfers are already on!
Obviously add soot/oil leaks etc - either by drybrushing, or powders, or whatever takes your fancy.

    Do drybrush any non-metal paintwork.

    Nope -
I do have a Puma (8 wheels, 50mm gun, very nice...).
This is one of the early models, used in Poland & France, basically a 6-wheel truck chassis with armour & a turret.

    It is challenging.
Most of it is fine, it is just the upper & lower parts of the hull that do not quite fit properly.
Which is why it is still a work in progress...

My current project (thank you sadists!) is rather delayed - at the moment I only get about 1 day a fortnight to work on it - provided my parents are not using the table.

are you still living with your parents? how old are you, then? Or are these too personal questions. (I can understand)

Too bad you have to wait for them to use the table and work on. :(
