You are correct of course. The Civil War doc was very thoughtful and powerful. The doc about baseball was about America going through changes through the 20th century, including the civil rights movement. I have nothing but respect for Burns. Please do not read anything malicious into my earlier comment about "propaganda". All film makers worth their salt have something to say, some sort of bias. Because I was born on the American continent and exposed to US content all my life, I am prone to be more agreable to that point of view and not question it too severely. However, I am aware that it is a point of view and there are other, equally viable points of view.
Just realized You are not talking about the movie I thought you were. My apologies. I was watching "Liberation", an earlier film that seems steeped in Soviet style propaganda.
The Americanization of Emily is on today on Turner Classic Movies at noon eastern. Worth DVRing. It's a good one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hYBuK9q-NI
Watched another Soviet movie today called 'They Fought for Their Country'. It's about a Soviet platoon fighting a rearguard action during the German drive on Stalingrad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Fought_for_Their_Country
Love that movie. It was one of James Garner's favorites of his own movies. I learned the speach he gave Julie Andrews' mother by heart- the "I'm not sentimental about war ... I preach cowardice" speach. Love Paddy Chayefsky's writing.
Sounds very good thanks for the heads up, Part! Watched River, a Netflix series, Trailer Park Boys and Better Call (Jimmy McGillis) Saul. Also watching you tube video of YPG training and clearing operations in Rojava, Manbij and Afrin.
