ummm, the devil all the time. on netflix. have come to expect crappy long winded tripe from netflix, and was not disappointed. it would have been painfully long, if not for fast forward. i thank God for that. was disappointed with the performance of the luger. maybe the rounds were not so hot. maybe spiderman didnt know wtf he was doing. i hate netflix and all of hollywood.
Just watched the 633 squadron on free streaming digital archive. Was trying to figure out what liason aircraft was at the start of the movie when Erik makes his escape to England. Tried looking it up on will but the page seems lacking no liason aircraft. Came across movie plane database and found out it was a miles m.38 liason aircraft. Eight mosquitoes were used and the me108s were supposed to be 109s were french built copies. Seems strange they couldn't find any 109s then. The movie back when I was still young sparked my interest in the mosquito. I finally got a couple from eBay when the collector series sold out. Then mark one came out with some kits. All bombers hope a fighter bomber type gets released soon.
Was reading Clift Robertson was a licensed pilot and owned his own spitfire. Wanted to fly the mosquito but wasn't allowed due to insurance issues. Says one surplus mosquito was destroyed for one of the crash scenes. Got me into watching BOB again. I bet the model builders were excited to get paid to build models. Hollywood model builders are pretty much out of a lot of work unless they know how to do cgi nowadays. So much done on computer imagining. I think new movies will have so much better effects. Like greatest tank battles, the animation is pretty good and they can make it so realistic. The cgi on prelude to anaxar is really good. All thanks to gaming CGI generators.
Only the JU-87s and the aircraft that were blown up were models. There were ground mock-ups that were blown up too for BoB. BTW, have ou noticed that the "Repeat please" scene only had three Hurricanes? The rear V was composed of Spanish Messerschmitts. Tail struts are the giveaway. Thanks for sharing those tidbits on Cliff Robertson and his Spitfire.
Got my Blu-ray copy of "Godzilla v. Kong". Great monster movie. And an epic easter egg if you look to the right of the "charging unit" Kong uses.
Watched " 300 " again. Just love it. The wife sends his husband to war " Spartan! Come back with your shield or on it."
I wonder what scale the models were. I keep looking for that antenna but never see it maybe on the big screen it was visible. One of the HE111 rcs the antenna was visible during screening so they added the control cable snap scene as a explaination for the wire.Yes read that about the mock ups. I think it is amazing how the prop crews build all those great looking mock ups for the movies all over the world here Britain, those BT tanks in Korea, wonder if they were plywood. Like the Russian tanks in the first red dawn sheet metal and fiberglass. The M1 in the movie was a mock up too. And the Hinds wow they say the pilots had a bit of a time having to see thru two sets of windscreens.
LoL been watching more world's greatest tank battles and sci-fi, the blob Steve McQueen classic, Kronos 1957, the giant claw LoL wow what a cheesy one. About a giant brid from space terrorizing the whole world. Looked like a ugly giant buzzard or vulture with big teeth like are there birds with teeth. I read that parrots can snap the fingers off a person and always keep my distance from them.
was reading more about the 633 squadron movie it was a Canadian studio backed movie but I think most of the production was in England. They were planning it as a launch for the whole novel series but the box office sales were not as they hoped and the project shelved. Movies like that and BOB I don't see how they can ever be reproduced even with cgi. Red tails used extensive cgi and to me some of the flight scenes looked a little off like the planes sometimes mode a little stiffly and some of the manuvrs looked strange like watching models on a stick. The can do better I'm sure the cgi guys had a tight budget. I don't know why they changed the story too the pilot who gets shot down makes it to friendly lines and is sent back to the base. That guy messed up bad broke formation to attack a ground target and got peppered and got caught spent six months in a pow camp a lot of his fellow POWs couldn't believe he was an officer. By the time the allies I erased the camp in six months he had dwindled to about a hundred pounds and was happy to see ameican soldiers take the camp. Telling them what took so long. The new cgi generators are really good love watching epic battles and war thunder on YouTube. Maybe one day they will do more 633 squadron or similar movies to BOB. I like watching TWGTB the cgi wasn't as advanced as it is now but it still looks good and the dogfights series along with the naval series like 360 enterprise and the story on taffy 3. The Johnson showed everyone what tin cans can do. She went down fighting to the end. What an insane battle it was lucky for us the Japanese couldn't figure out they were engaging an auxiliary fleet not the main just a few salvos from the battleships could have caused thousands of casualties on the landing forces. Though I can't believe with all the ships they had none figured out they were fighting escort carriers and destroyers. I'm surprised that most of the escort carriers had hardly any munitions.
Reading about the Spartans insistence for perfection lead to their down fall. Any physical imperfection meant banishment or not being accepted as part of the people as such their numbers dwindled. The Spartans had harassed the other Greek states that they raised an army to wipe out the Spartans by this time could only field a few thousand and were over run by a much superior number. The commander of the unified Greek army respected the Spartans and ordered his army to hold and spared the Spartan home city. It was plain to even the Spartans they were a defeated people and the Spartans faded away to live on in legends and myths. So sad they were so obsessed with perfection not having a perfect Greek look or birthmark could condem you to exile. They say the Spartans banished thousands depleting their numbers thus weaking their army let it shrink to a low number txt the other states knew meant they were ripe for defeat.
Watched the pentagon games now I hope that's not what really goes on at the pentagon. I know it's based on a book written by the actual col. Of the movie but really that seems so insane. They say dome of the book is simplified or exaggerated and misconceptions. However it is an entertaining movie hilarious at points, snd does make you wonder. The Bradley program did take a long time and went thrust several modifications. It was supposed to replace the m113 as. Troop carrier but when approved for production could hardly carry any, now the army wants a newer bigger one that can do what it assupposeto do. What a waste one thing that would solve that is an idea they discussed long ago puts remote turret and get rid of the turret basket increasing the internal space significantly making room go more personnel. Plus a remote with that new 50mm gun or even a gun that has better anti tank capably or add another tow launcher on the other side. Got hairy during desert storm when they shot their two tows and just door knocking they called it with the 25 mm gun.
Finished worlds greatest tank battles season 2 and started 3. It said how the Germans had no chance, they built 2500 battle tanks the allies in the same time built200,000. No wonder at the baltics they had 200 vs 1500. The Russians built as many tanks in a day that they Germans took a week or more. They fought like hell but wave after wave finally ran them over. I really disliked the Russians hell Stalin originally was going to split Europe with hitler. Then they kept all those countries that Patton said they would do. He wanted to fight them, I don't know the russians were pretty tough and they had the industrial power to build good weapons fast. I think they had a tank superiority over us but we had better aircraft and our aircraft had made a huge difference in effective ground attacks still would have been pretty devastating. The Russians were pretty bad in Germany executed any men they suspected as having served in the German army killed lots of people as sport many of them children, wtf what could children do nothing and so they died. The book the rape of Germany I only read a few pages from an article but it was sad, poor kids thinking the wars over they can live peacefully and play too get beaten to death for things they had nothing to Donita other to be born German. I'm sure one of the a sons why so many girls married GIs to get out of there. Then the Russians try to starve West Berlin and the US does that air lift hundreds of planes in the air daily loaded with food. Many planes not making it and gong down. Pictures of the Berlin Wall going up are wild Soviet tanks and soldiers on one side our tanks and soldiers on the other. I'm surprised no one got trigger happy and fired a shot. Anyway I think even if they had the steel they just didn't have the production capability hitler didn't plan enough about expanding his industry enough to meet the needs of the army. The USA the government took control of all industry you had vacuum machine companies typewriter companies all making guns or gun parts all the auto motive companies building trucks jeeps and other vehicles for the war all the train foundaries building tanks the whole nation geared for war production. German didn't do anything similar till much later in the war critics have said he should have been in a war economy as soon as he started the war. He might have been able to increase his production faster.
If Germany had been clever ( i.e. Hitler) They would not have lost ca. 250-300,00 men in Africa, Nor 300-400,00 men in Normandy plis tanks and in Bagration 400,000. men I guess better that way.Not talking about aeroplane and pilots. There were also some 300,000 men in Norway to transfer to Germany. They were never transferred.Hitler feared there would be invasion to Norway. What would that matter if Berlin was being lost?
Yeah I remember reading about that whole army and with a good number of operational tanks just left there to hold what? Seemed like a waste of manpower and equipment and most of those units surrendered there were bunches of assembly yards of German tanks perfectly alright. Hitler was totally losing it kept refusing to consolidate his forces but refused thinking his armies could rally and beat the enemy back. Unfortunately without more tanks and supplies forget it they were just becoming isolated targets for the soviets and the rest of the allies.
Lol, watch WGTBs over and over especially the ones about the Israeli wars, the 73,war was a surprise to the Israelis they gotten too laced and to arrogant in their abilties the got spanked hard. The new soviet weapons the SAMs made air attacks too costly a third of their planes shot down and thousands of the new saggar missiles were a huge devestating surprise one tank commander with 32 tanks uns into hundreds and gets out with only 6 tanks. But they pulled it off and push the Egyptians back. In the golans they do better, now that they make the centurion in my scale I hope to get one and build the different marks and the shotkal. Working on my t55 t62 covers ion and later Syrian and other middle eastern upgrades t59. Watched the Michael Wittman story, funny the narrator says he's in a stub with the long 75 but the animation showed a short 75. Hate when the pics don't match.
In 1973 the map was rather interesting. My dad said the US denied Irael from destroying the Egyptian army. Well, I never did dig deeper into the battle, though.Maybe it was the 6-day war?? Oil Embargo In response to U.S. support of Israel, the Arab members of OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, decided to reduce oil production by 5% per month on October 17. On October 19, President Nixon authorized a major allocation of arms supplies and $2.2 billion in appropriations for Israel. In response, Saudi Arabia declared an embargo against the United States, later joined by other oil exporters and extended against the Netherlands and other states, causing the 1973 energy crisis.[477]
