Letters from Iwo Jima is on TV (AMC) tonight in the US...world TV premiere. Really looking forward to it. Too bad Heartbreak Ridge is on first...ughhh.
Hi Jaeger, yessir, I sure do ;-)) The Sons of Katie Elder was one of the Westerns I grew up with. Many great actors involved including: Paul Fix, as the Sheriff, Jeremy Slate as his Deputy, George Kennedy as the hired killer-dressed in black, Earl Holliman as Matt Elder, Michael Anderson as Bud Elder, and Michael Doucette. On a scale of 1-10-10 being the best, i'd give this western no less than a 9.
Finished watching Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima on cable this afternoon. They were very good. I found myself thinking of the things SouthWestPacificVet has been willing to share with us of his experiences fighting the Japanese. Michelle PS Sons of Katie Elder is also one of my favourite westerns.
Letters from Iwo Jima was a pretty good movie. I wish more people liked it but it is their loss. The guy in the cave that got hit with a flame thrower from above scared the crap out of me ! That has to be a bad way to go.
I too watched Letters From Iwo Jima. Clint Eastwood did a great job of Directing - as is usual with his films.
Last night, I first saw: The Wild Geese w/ Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris, Hardy Kruger, Jack Watson, Stewart Granger and Percy Herbert. Then I stayed up late just to watch Bogie and Van Johnson in: The Caine Mutiny. Both are excellent movies with excellent casts.
Was this on TV, Carl? I have'nt seen Wild Geese in years. Richard Burton is one of my favorite WWII actors. I watched The Train w/Burt Lancaster yesterday.
Hi FramerT, nope, I watched it on DvD which I bought from: DeepDiscount.com - DVDs, Blu-ray, HD DVD, CDs, Books, Video Games and more last year for about $10 bucks. As far as I know, they are still selling the DvD. I too liked: The Train. Everytime I rewatch it, I like it even more. Last night I watched: Dunkirk, again. In case I have not run-it-into-the-ground-yet, it is an excellent movie with: Sir John Mills, Lord Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee.
Watched the 1960 version of the film "Swiss Family Robinson". When I was a kid, this was one of my favourite films and when I saw the DVD at a flea-market for $8, I had to buy it. I love it so much.
Is this the one with Sir John Mills and James MacArthur in it? If so, I too like this one very much. PS, forgot to mention that I watched that new Knight Rider movie--not bad-not bad at all. And this is coming from someone who hates most of the programming that's currently on TV these days. Also stayed up late last night to catch James F. Cagney in: White Heat." Excellent movie. "Look ma!...Im on top of the world!!!"
