Saw The Courtmartial of Billy Mitchell on Channel 4 this afternoon. Same channel is showing The Malta Story tomorrow.
Last night a document on Dr Felix Kersten, the man who helped Himmler with his stomach pains, and later on made deals with Himmler to free people from camps. His son and friends were interviewed alot for this document. Mighty interesting stories.

Watched "Enemy at the Gates" for the first time last week. Have to say not as good as I thought it was going to be, it was ok but not what I expected after hearing good things about it.
Another one of those damn love stories incorporated into a war film, much the same as Pearl Harbour, or one of those movies which focus on a singular person through the war and it makes them look like they won it by themselves, or as a guy at my work puts it "How many times has John Wayne won the war single handed?" lol
Yeah the whole love storylinee is quite distracting/pointless when your trying to watch a film about Stalingrad. There were parts of Enemy at the Gates that were never explained as well. Such as when Vassili first encounters the Major in his trap. His two comrades are shot by the Major and Vassili is cornered in the same building as him, yet it's not explained how we got out, it just cuts to the next scene. Either way not what I was expecting lol. Here's hoping the next film I see has a better lasting impression.
I just finished up with the 13-part Complete History of WWII DVD set, which wasn't really anything new - but aside from the redundancy of the narrator and the awful music was okay. Last weekend I did The Dirty Dozen for kicks.
Stuck on sofa for few weeks, have run out of Dvd's. Watched telly, obscure satelite channel. Sky Riders made in 1968, Check bomber crew, black and white, subtitles as well as English...suprisingly good.
Unfortunately I am very limited to the war movies I can watch, since my fiancee hates them but she loves horror movies like saw, go figure? She says its because the war portraits actual events and real people dieing (well actors playing real people) while saw type movies are made up, I still not understand it, she is strange, women what can you do?
Divorce......It stops them reorginising your bookshelves too. If things get really bad you could build a shed like many others on here have probably had to do. I'm lucky I have barns. Failing this, if you think divorce is a step too far, make sure she has a job to attend on a daily basis. Are you man or mouse? War is war, make sure she understands your needs in this area, sometimes we have to put important things above our need to eat hot food...Stand up for yourself...This is precicely why we fight wars. Goodness gracious...
Just watched A Walk in the Sun about the landings at Salerno. Dana Andrews stars with a cool small roll for Huntz Hall from the Bowery Boys. I love the film and the cast.
Laast night was Eagle in a Cage concerning Napoleon's exile to St. Helena. Only caught the first half before falling asleep. Will watch the remainder tonight.
Another obscure satelite channel....last night, El Alamein...Italian movie with subtitles. Not exactly and epic by any means, but watchable.
