Watched The Last Outpost last night. Its a movie where the COnfederates come out much better than the Yanks-and who join forces to combat the Apaches. Stars Ronald Wilson Reagan, Bruce Bennett & Noah Beery Jr (one of Reagans Sergeants) Bruch Bennett is a Yank Colonel and Reagans Brother.

I taped D-Day: Reflections of Courage this morning on the Military Channel, and watched Return to Tarawa shortly afterwards.

Sat down last night to watch this one. Good grief must be a good 20 years since I last saw this one, 1960's gone wrong.

I liked the bit with the chief fireman in the hidden library holding a copy of Hitlers book ready for burning. ;)

I watched "All the King's Men" the other night, the one about the infantry company raised from employees from one of the King's estates during WW1. The company was destroyed in an assault during the Gallipoli Campaign, and popular lore had it that the company dissapeared into a cloud during the assault. It was a very good movie, well made and acted. I ordered this movie from Netflix by mistake, thinking it was the one about the fictional Louisiana governor Willie Stark, who was based on the actual Governor Huey Long. It was a pleasant mistake I must say. No complaints.

That was a good one, shown over here a few years ago on rememberance Sunday.

David Jason starred in the lead role I believe.

There were though many memorabilia found at the site of the action in later years, enough to show they didn't in fact as you say...and it became a sort of mini legend...dissapear into a cloud...But the story was repeated for many years.

Just finished watching a 1950s Sci-fi-but I ca't exactly call it a "classic." The movie was: Rocketship XM which had a good cast-that was basically wasted. The movie was pretty slow throughout it's running time with few scenes to keep you awake. Wasted talents include: Hugh O' Brien TVs Wyatt Earp or Bat Masterson-I forget which? Wasted was Noah Beery Jr. TVs Father of Jim Rockford-on: The Rockford Files. Wasted was: Lloyd Bridges-TVs Diver in, Sea Hunt.

I've never seen that bloody movie yet, Rich. Every time the tv papers says it's on, it's never on in the STV area.
Been waiting years to actually see it. :(

There's a perfectly good reason for that Gordon.....because if its shown in Scotland we know damn well Dickens and Shakespear will all be collected and sent to Saxa Vord for yellhalla or valhella or whatever it is you mad scots do up there. Thus putting back for centuries enlightenment and humour.
