The "political" not what "we" think, reasoning is The Polish government fled Poland on the 17th How about the French government and the French-Polish accord? Nasty politics andya! Regards Kruska
Indeed, but the Poles were fully aware that the term "European power" under the agreement was designed to exclude the Soviet Union.
In the case of the Red Army, it meant that the vast majority of its officers were inexperienced and hampered by a fear of using their initative. Which everway you try and look at it, Stalin's purges were a disaster for the Soviet Union and lead to the further deaths of millions of Soviet citizens and soldiers in defence of their homeland He wasn't interested in that, he just wanted to hold on to power.
It would only be "chicanery and tomfoolery" if the Polish leadership were unaware of its true meaning, but they were aware of it, so it wasn't.
If that is the case why did the Polish ambasador in London, Mr Radzynski meet Lord Halifax to demand British intervention and a declaration of war if the Poles were aware of the secret protocol which meant the Anglo/Polish common defence pact only meant Germany and not "European Power"?
