    Well, believe it or not, some aircraft which fell in the BofB were not found for weeks afterwards.....hidden by those non-existent woods. Fact is, many of the fields were, and still are, bordered by small coppice-type woods. Try to land in a field, your fragile aircraft invariably hits trees or a thick hedge.

    ( We are talking about SE England - not Nebraska ! [​IMG] )

    Oh - and there was a Ju52 at the Duxford airshow last weekend. Impressive - but very slow ! I can see how vulnerable they were to even small-arms fire over Crete..... :eek:

    I never said all the woods were non-existant… but certainly many are, most of them ended in the bottom of the sea —once scrapped, of course. Not too many defeats too tell by the RN… ;)
