Well my screen name it was just up into my mind. I could choosen a different name but I liked this one better. Roberto is my real name, 67 is year of birth and the General came up to my mind. That's why I choose General Roberto67. My name is Italian related. My father is born in Italy, south of it.
like so many others first initial part of my last name and year of birth. my last names too long for a sn i would think.
What a fun thread! I nearly spewed my coke on the screen a couple of times reading it. Me? It's my mother's fault. She named me. Somebody, way back when, shortened it to just Pen and it sorta stuck. Besides, it was simpler than straining my brain to choose from numerous monikers accumulated from a family who love to give nick-names and love to tease. Still, for just a minute during registration, I did consider "Ort"; the elder cuzzins in my Dad's family - all male - still call me that. It's been their code for "worry wort" for about 60 years now. (who me??? ) I have to say, again, I've been a forum-hound for a long time, so I can say from experience: ww2f.com is nothing short of being in a class all by itself. Otto, the mods, and all the fine Rogues are to be congratulated for, not only their magnificent expertise and continuous dedication, but also for their civility, their kindness, their amazing sense of humor, and their incredible generosity in sharing their knowledge of WWII. The Rogues Rock - Oh, yeah. You really do!!!
My first posting was on a American War of Independence forum, and seeing that all all the variations on my name which I liked had been taken I choose the nickname given to my country's soldiers in the war. I've stuck with it ever since.
IntIron short for Integrity Iron, the Steel Erection company my father and I founded in 2005. We've been hangin' iron and kickin' arse ever since. Yours, Bill
I found that at most sites Dennis was already taken. Now I don't even check and just use this handle. J is for James.
About time I added mine to the mix. While talking to a relative about a picture of him "Somewhere in the Southwest Pacific" He mentioned Biak. We all know the "famous" islands and I thought maybe using this would lead to asking the question "Where and What is "Biak"? The 'avatar' is of him (maybe even on Biak).
I was looking at other names........... couldn't think of one so just used the start of my email ..... Dazdbs
