Maybe the 50th redundant thread on a particular topic can be considered spam? Who cares? You can get smart and try to be technical about how someone classified a post, just be civil and post with some decorum.

Good one. May I use this in other postings?

I have moved on. But when a PM was sent to me with "implied threats".

I must inform the leader of the moderation team, which I did.

I will continue to act according to way the forum rules allow. I will not tolerate "implied threats" towards me though.

and i thought you were my friend...surely any ww2 topic is good or related..if already done to death someone will point to previous thread..maybe we should have a thread history mod...only thing i personally have an individual gripe with and im no mod ..is the romantiscising of a war that is still very much alive in some of our families and is not yet quite a romantic storm the beaches period of cinemetography.

ahh reading whole thread i now understand the gripe..so to speak..mods do a good job here..but i have noticed a shift in some areas..this is obviously thought out and for a reason..but i do agree..the idea of a pre warning of any future infraction when no infraction yet exists..will makesome think they are being censored before the event..its happened to me..its not ni ce..perhaps this aspect of moderation needs a second look. its a suggestion not a complaint.

The "best thread" is one you're interested in. Find something that fascinates you and you want to know more about. The Japanese foray into the Indian Ocean is, IMHO, underrated. I want to know more about the Kokoda Trail. How, exactly, did the operations of a "designated night carrier" differ from those of a "regular" carrier.

And remember, starting a thread isn't as important, IMHO, as adding constructively to one that's already going.

This whole issue could perhaps have been avoided with a more elaborate and complete statement of why the thread was being modded. On my forums we have a set of boilerplate advisories that we have agreed on, so anyone who needs to deal with a thread or post has a quick and easy way to make the person on the other end understand what just happened.

Infractions are only given out when the rules are broken, simply making a thread already done does not warrant an infraction unless it has been done by the same member over and over again, otherwise it will be for another reason.

Been reading the questions and comments and figured I might as well throw in; check other thread topics and see the amount of posts to the thread. What I think would be interesting isn't necessarily what others do when I check for responses. I have threads with no posts added so I expect them to "go away" eventually.
But for a suggestion, I have just started reading Studs Terkel's "The Good WAR" and after only reading the introduction (12 pages), see nearly twenty topics I think would make good threads. (Not that I'm planning on it, just saying). Such as the "761st Tank Battalion". I hit the search button and did not come up with a 'hit' for America's all Black Tank Battalion. I think this would make a good thread and bring to light the attitudes/actions of the times. What the heck, think I'll try it and see what happens. I guess the main point is to find something you're interested in, hope others are and don't worry about "numbers" or accolades.

You might check to see if the "friendly fire" episode in Operation Husky has been addressed.

i dont start many threads myself. But to be honest i would raise one as stated on any ww2 topic. its a ww2 forum. dont worry what others think as long as the information is accurate..if it is ww2 it is relevant. if its been covered it may bare new fruits if not it will die a natural death...accolades are not even worth mentioning..unless you wish to spend your time getting a post count..in which case..sit in new members and welcome everyone...just post and forget medals and figures..some of best posts on here have been by one hitters. accolades should be left firmly where they belong..with the folk who lived it not those of us retelling their tales.
