Well, the PC back there at home is too slow and old. Beside my sister and brother also use it, so... PT, of corse that I will be enchanted to shoot you down. But wait, I must get the joystick and learn how to play it and then I will shoot you down. :D

That is why I own my iBook. It is really fats to sail the web and I can do a lot of stuff with the photographs with all Apple Software. PC's software stink... And I use another iBook at the office too, so I am a Mac geek... [IMG] Even my ICQ is a Machintosh weird version...

he, he, he. I just loved how the Russians screamed in Close Combat III... :D

Heh, Friedrich. You're history opinions are pretty darn good. But on the computers, we will have to agree to disagree! :D
I just can't stand these darn macs...

You'd love Commado War- It's a modification of Close Combat out there that creates a fictional war that continued ww2- hypothetical units like the PantherII, King TigerII, and so on... Kind of fantastic and exagerrated, but loads of fun.

Well, we disagree. It would just be great if there was a computer with Machintosh and PC's good stuff. A much more balanced machine...

That game sounds fun. But I hate that kind of fantasies. I hated the robots and walking dogs in Medal of Honour, by example. It is like designing a game: "Alexander the Great conquests Mars!" No! That is why I don't read science fiction. :D

Friedrich, I have heard of something called "virtual PC" for the mac. It allows you to play PC games on macs. I dont know any of the specifics, considering Im a windows guy, but ill bet you could find some info in search engines.

Friedrich, you don't know what you are missing. I don't like this stuff were they add walking dogs and shit like that. But SF-Fi is somehing else.

I play sudden Strike Forever all the time. Lots of people play it online. Theres always several games going on. DL Gamespy Arcade - thats where everyone plays it.

Also, Sudden Strike 2 is coming out soon. More realistic (vehicles and houses and infantry are to scale...so tanks are no longer as big as small houses). The longer it takes to complete a scenario, night turns into day, and day turns into night. Weather effects everything too...armoured railways, controlable ships and airplanes too....looks awesome.

I'm going to sound like a BOF here but I agree with Friedrich. It's all a matter of taste but I'm not into sci-fi - I like them 'realistic'. [IMG]

Well, I wouldn't call it sci-fi... the mod adds some weapons and armor that never really existed, but it still feels like ww2 era. Everything is just a bit tougher and more well armed, with some really cool weapons, like cluster mortars- idea being a mortar that launches a cluster of 6 frag grenades as one round...
The great thing about CCC III is that once you ficgure out the data files, you can basically create your own version. I like anti-tank warfare... so my version- for the germans, less armor, especially heavy, is available, but slightly more anti-tank vehicles and units. Plus generally more supporting units. And for even more fun, the russians have even more tanks available, and some debut earlier in my version.
I also have one that includes only infantry and light vehicles...
And these mods need absolutely NO programming knowledge to create...

And it's really cool- in close combat, when playing a campaign, it keeps track of stats for all the individual soldiers in your unit. On the soldier screen, you can scroll through each soldiers history and medals... Dr. Huck (?!?!), one of my Hetzer gunners, just got his Knights cross... He's up to 63 enemy tank kills! Cool sh*t!

Mussolini, I played sudden strike as well... But without hi-speed I couldn't manage to get multiplayer working, and the single player version wasn't too hot. But I'll certainly check out part II. Just love ww2 real-time strategy games...

Close Combat, I have all 5 but only play 3, fully modded up. Probably my fave strategy game.

Combat Mission. I normally play this PBEM.

Sudden Strike Forever with the APRM realism mod (still a bit arcadey though)

Day Of Defeat halflife mod now at version 3 with paratroopers. Get yourself the sturmbot and play offline, its fantastic.

IL2 Probably the best WW2 flight sim.

Just tried the single player demo of Battlefield 1942 and its a lot of fun. Just dont expect too much realism.

Looking forward to GI Combat (from the makers of close combat) a 3D strategy title and WW2 RTS (working title) from Maddox (makers of IL2).

Any suggestions for any other WW2 games or mods?

Sure, Head for www.battlefront.com. Go to the forums and then opponent finder. Good Luck.

Also I forgot to mention hidden and dangerous. Probably the best co-op game. Can't wait for HnD2 should be fantastic.

Hallo! First of all: welcome chugnut! I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do. And we hope to see you around oftenly.

And well, I use my iBook for sailing the web, editing my films and working on my photographs (not tasks for a PC...), not for gaming. Anyway, I do not play video-games too often.

And hehehe, I didn't mean I do not like science fiction. I do, because I do like Star Wars... I just like realism in things that really happened.

I'll second that. I've only been playing it for a weekand and i am hooked. I love all the down loads you can get so you can change uniforms and vehicles schemes and all the rest. I'm already looking forward to CM 2.

Games I have played in the past include Medal of Honor Allied Assault. I am currently playing Day of Defeat (a halflife mod).

I am looking forward to the release of Battlefield 1942. You can check it out here:Battlefield 1942

Friedrich, I've just thought of a good reason you'd like my 'boring old' Battle of Britain sim - you can fly a Bf110 on Erprobungsgruppe 210-style low-level bombing missions against RAF airfields.

It's really  when you let those bombs go over the hangars at Kenley, strafe aircraft on the runway for good measure - and then one of those Spitfires gets on your tail....... :D
