Still a very good starting point is Donald MacIntyre's 'The Battle Of The Atlantic'. Despite being written in 1961 it has stood the test of time well and is regarded as a true classic. It's helped also by the fact that the author was senior officer of the 5th Escort Group in the Battle, being awarded the DSO with two bars and a DSC. It has been reprinted many times and is easily available.
