Probably 1930s and used in 1939-1940 by both nations. the 8 x 30 size gives a good hint as similar lenses were used by Huet and Car Zeiss for instance .

    Wonderful ski cap Sky!

Rich, cool 98 kit. I didn't think you'd find those that easily in the U.S.

Metal tin that was kept with the gas mask, the tin contained 4 tubes with an ointment to decontaminate the skin after a gas attack.

Another US Army Engineer Compass, an early model, un-marked, made by Gurley. This was not about the compass but about the pouch!! It's an early model, still with the working zipper and the original ball chain. It's nearly impossible to find a complete one, that is in working order, of these!

Very nice. This immediately made me think of a scene in With the Marines at Tarawa where the troops are using this device to link rounds. Not sure why that scene sticks in my mind, though there are a few others in that short film that are quite dramatic. Interesting to see it in such good condition.

Revere "Eight" camera. Apparently they were used by the Signal Corps, even civilian production ones. I was not able to corroborate that info though! So let's take it with a grain of salt! But it's a nice camera anyhow!

A box full of "Pull type Firing Devices M1"! they replaced the standard fuse in an MKII hand grenade to make a booby trap.

My latest . Quite an investment, but worth it! These U.S army cavalry boots were made by Feister from Witchita Kansas. The name of the soldier and enlistment number are on them .

and my second pair of Hunsinger binos. These are specific for WW2 with biger lenses and came with a named picture of the Artillery Captain who owned them.

As a comparison I took a picture of my other pair .

Picture of the artilley Captain (collar tabs are supposed to be red). Note he is a WW1 veteran too. This is the man who owned the Hunsiger binos. The pictures is dated 1940.
