    Dietl in Lapland..

    Georg-Peter Eder, J.G.1, 663. Oakleaves
Georg-Peter Eder flew 572 combat missions of which 150 were with the Messerschmitt Me 262. On the Eastern Front he scored 10 victories and on the Western Front 68, of which no less than 36 were four-engined bombers. With the Me 262 he scored at least 12 victories, at least one sources indicate that this number could be as high or even higher than 24 kills. He was the leading scorer against the four-engined bombers, and leading air ace against the USAAF, claiming some 56 US flown aircraft. Eder himself was shot down 17 times, bailing out 9 times, and was wounded 14 times.

Great stuff, actually I believe both medals are Belgian, not one Belgian and one French, I'd need to see an enlarged version to confirm this or not.

Got them Rich : they are both Belgian. the second one is the Armed Resistance Medal. I was confused for a while because of the colors but the whit eis in fact faded green. There is a similar one wiht a man instead of a woman for Passive Resistance.

Cheers Guys. Just broke 50 years of age and had to celebrate with a little trip and some partying... ;)

Found a great album though, this guy, I think he is pilot or his brother is, started the war as I think from entereing the Baltic states with Barbarossa, then to Russia and weirdly enough they were sent to northern Finland by late 1941. According to these photos they met the KV-1 very early in Barbarossa...?? Enjoy the photos.

Happy Birthday and welcome to the 50s club! ☺

Great album. The complete ones, like yours, are a fascinating insight in to a soldiers life in the services. The photos can also sometimes tell more than a thousand words ever could.

Excellent find Kai! This is a very good album with places taken the very first days of Barbarossa. Pleskau , if Iremember correctly was even annexed to the Reich for a while.

The Finnish soldiers needed Finnish nurses of course. Here´s a Finnish nurse´s summer cap.

In the beginning Mannnerheim et co demanded in 1940-41 that the Finns would be incl in the Wehrmacht units but Himmler demanded they join Waffen-SS. Himmler got his demand...
