1. 101st Airborne mostly the 506th, Easy company the Band of Brothers. 2. Sniper. 3. Flying P-51 Mustang. 4. In the underground like in the book. The Hiding place. 5. Panzer gunner in the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend.
No doubt about it, i would serve under Dr. Oskar Dirlewanger. Direct protection from Himmler, a leader (Dirlewanger) who leads his man personaly into combat, which concerning his rank is highley unusual! Chance of getting killed > 75%. Rape, murder and torture all in a days work, Born 2 lose, live 2 win. Shocked about this???? This is was war is ! Saw it myself in Srebrenica! Free Karadzic!
No, he posted an inquiry for "the historical truth" about the Dirlewanger Brigade last month . He claims that he is by no means a neo-Nazi activist or a historical revisionist, but no one was deceived and he received no response. Good riddance!
1. But if we take the show to heart, we would see that you only have a 50/50 chance of survival. 2. Just hope you dont get spotted... 3. Good survivability rates, a decent choice. 4. Didnt read the book, is it the spot where (whatshisname) hid under the bridge in the crossroads? 5. Ill hold my tongue, but that does look like an attempt to grab the wrong attention.
Under Rommel in Africa or with anyone in France '44. I would serve for the Germans because I like the German weapons of the time, but wouldn't want to be associated with Hitler. I'd serve with US/Canada/UK just so I could see the villages in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Probably my favorite theater of the war. But I would REALLY love to be a pilot of an Me-109, Fw-190, P-51, P-40, P-38, Spitfire, Hurricane, or Typhoon...or any plane for that matter.
There are several units that I would have liked to have served in: 1) Australian Coastwatchers in the Solomons 2) The OSS in Burma 3) 1st Marine Division on Guadalcanal 4) 3 Gebirgs Division at Narvik
Well, there are many different places I would have loved to serve. JG26 or JG52 as a pilot. Onboard the USS Barb as captain. Onboard the USS Enterprise as a fighter pilot.
I am a woman but since the question is somewhat of a hypothetical one I would say: 1. On the brainstorming SD staff of Reichsprotektor Reinhard Herydrich in Prague.I would have deserted after his assassination in June 1942, because I would have had the gray cells to know that all was lost. 2. As Aide de campe to the American Caesar - General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines , Australia, Japan, and Korea. 3. In the Afrika Corps under General Erwin Rommel. 4. I would have followed General George Patton anywhere. Tis a pity his Army was not allowed to take Berlin. Backroom deals are the stuff of Wars and the aftermath of Wars too. I have an affinity for tanks, and to this end I would have served for Hasso von Manteuffel early 1943 under the 5th Panzer Army of Rommel's Army Group Afrika, if only to witness two of the world's greatest armor leaders in history. Firstly, however, I would have flown those tanks in the sky, the P-47 Thunderbolt.
I'd of been British infantry with a sniper rifle, and I think my entrance into the war would have been off the Boats at D-Day, having previously kicked German butt in Africa However I surmise that I would probably die instantly on D-Day before I get a chance to take any shots at some Waffen SS!
I am a woman so I would be a nurse at Red Army. Better in 1944 - 1945. To meet the end of war in Bulgaria or Yufoslavia.
I do think that would serve in the German Kreigsmarine. Probably not the U-boats, but maybe on a surface vessel such as The Admiral Scheer or an Auxiliary cruiser. I would want to be in a ship that saw a lot of action in the war (maybe even a Destroyer), but attacked both commercial and attack ships. Maybe in the Baltic sea attacking the British convoys to Russia?
