I'm with you on this, except I'm also ruling out the US Navy surface fleet. My choice is to be on submarine spotting duty in Omaha.

in the Luftwaffe flying against the US heavy bomber formations with loads of Mustangs lying in wait ..... 1944-45.

a cousin of mine fell in protecting his country, or so he thought, was it worth it ....... ?

if I really had a choice being of the present older generation, and seriously if I had a choice and not have vindictive govt. regulators on my back/jail sentance for refusal of service ........... I would rather stay home, secure a good job and have babies with my lovely bride and grow quite old together in peace.

With my grandpa near the end of the war. He was on a ship returning home in the Pacific when the ship was torpedoed by a Jap sub. Most of the crew (including him) escaped and they were stuck on the ocean for roughly two days until they were rescued.

I would not have liked to be in Burma. The Jungle life, the fact that i would be surrounded by enemies and the heat would turn me insane.
I would rather fight in Europe with the British.

I wouldn't want to be on any U-boat during the war. Just the thought of being under water and ships tossing depth charges at you is a bit scary. Or on a ship transporting goods across the Atlantic.

Yup Tidalwave1 that would be a terrible position to be in especially when you were expected to die for the Emperor.

Being any where near a Aircraft of any side "who was dropping Napalm".

Kokoda and the Kokoda track under manned, under gunned ,(still using Lewis guns)and being ordered by stupid commanders from a few thousand KM's away

Any place where air craft can bomb the crap out of ya.
IE; Dresden East London and any the rest of the cities that were bombed to heck and back.
