General Gavin? Did he commandeer any battle or campaign that resulted into an allied victory of historic significance?

    How about General Eduard Dietl?

Being a full supporter of Hitler and the Nazi doctrine – which made him remembered as a propaganda figure – and as such not rated accordingly in respect to his military and historical significance.

For his outstanding achievement in Narvik, he was the first Wehrmachtsoldier to receive the Oakleaves – holding out for 3 month against forces that were 5 times his numbers, and as such secured Norway for Germany. Despite Norway’s extreme importance to the industrial security of Germany, the allies remembered their defeat to such an extend that they never conducted another landing in order to retake this vital country.
Without having secured Norway, Germany would not have been in the position to attack Russia.

    Regards

That's General Sir william Slim and you constantly quote the americans achievments in the CBI so it seems you are unwilling to accept the british capable of anything there in. I am able to recognise MERRILLS OR HUNTERS MARAUDERS achievments read in in a book somewhere;) but you are obviously unable to see slim and 14th army's if you are gonna reply to this by slagging of yet again Slim, 14th army or any other non british victory in ww2:rolleyes: do me a favour DONT BOTHER
