Patton's reincarnated soul is tortured. He would have gladly cashiered Maudlin if given half a chance, (Patton referred to Willie and Joe as "Godamned BUMS"}

 

In Patton's defense, Mauldin WAS lobbing the occasional round in HIS direction:



"Radio th' ol' man we'll be late on account of a thousand-mile detour."


But, I'll bet the Third Army dogfaces loved it.
