    Why, yes you did!

See the word that's highlighted? That is the word most! Which means the same as "the many", which means the greater part of human kind!

I don't think you understand the meaning of the statement "Music taste is subjective." One of these meanings would be that what "most people like" (or hate) does not mean that it is "bad" music. Who defines good taste? Nobody, because it's subjective!

Subjective, CSP! As in, pertaining to the attitudes, opinions and moods of the person in question! As opposed to objective.

I've never met "most" people so I really cant vouche on that part. Its just a figure of speech to say something essentially blows.

I didnt mention a majority in that statement ;)

If numbers mean good then Elton John is the greatest muscian of all time seeing as he has the highest selling single of all time, but then again I don't rate him because it is not my taste in music, neither is Queen. But I favour underground Metal bands who I consider better than Queen but have no chance of seling as many records.

Abba were superb. Singers, songwriters, musicians all rolled into one. What more do you want?

They were, eventhough that whole pop genre wasnt my thing.

Also, in the song waterloo, they said that that napoleon surrendered at waterloo. this is indeed false

Considering they don't know how to pronouce Waterloo, I wouldn't expect much histiorical correctness from them anyway.

That being said, some of their later tracks have some nice synth.

I haven't heard "Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention" mentioned in this thread. They were definitely an "acquired taste." I had a roommate that had every "album." Yup, I'm showing my age.

    Favorite Album title:
    Weasels Ripped My Flesh

I have to say working with bands in the Bristol underground scene, I have heard some music which i would personally say is shocking but to others it seems amazing, but i must say I have yet to meet a band who I did not respect for their talent and professionalism.

lol. Personally, the worst band I've ever heard is cannibal corpse. You can only listen to soo much lyrics about killing someone. Not to mention the lyrics are the worst i've ever heard(and most incoherant) and the instrumentials are bland.

on the other hand i quite like them. Ok i'll admit the lyrics are just foul and pretty crap and meaningless, but in death metal the vocals are usually just another instrument. The instrumentals are usually pretty good, another example of this is Nile except the lyrics for nile are usually very very clever.

The only thing that really keeps me from listening to death metal is the vocals

What Panzerman is trying to make clear to you is that it is not possibly to equate the statements "most people hate it" and "it blows", because what most people think does not make their individual opinions fact.

There are about two billion Christians in the world and about a billion and a half Muslims. Can they both be right in their beliefs, at the same time? If you say no, that means that whichever belief is right, over a billion people are wrong. In my opinion, all three and a half billion are wrong. Point being, any number of people can be wrong. This is a fact. "X people can't be wrong" is a fallacy and a lie, and never an acceptable argument.

In musical taste there effectively is no right or wrong. You think the bands you hate are bad, but that doesn't make them bad. The only way a piece of music can be objectively bad is if it lacks the qualities that define it as music - melody, rhythm, harmony.
