hi We are about to start shooting a movie about the WWII, and i was asked by my boss to find some military vehicles from that time, to shoot them in the movie. i would need Junkers JU53 German Transport plane or German transporter float plane, a Dakota tug plane, Kubelwagens, Jeeps and german motorcycles. Do you know anybody to have such a thing close to Eastern Europe, so that i might rent them? Please. thank you.
Sorry, I wouldn't know anything around Rumania anyway. Wow cristianap, wil you keep us informed on the project? I'm looking forward to hearing more about this movie.
I thought Swissair went bankrupt ? Anyway, they have at least one airworthy Ju 52 in Switzerland. Another airworthy Ju 52 is operated by Lufthansa. I´m not aware of any Ju 52s with floats still flying.
I can reveal, after a very brief research on the matter, that all airworthy Swiss Ju 52s have been operated by Ju-Air for the last 20 years. They operate as many as four Ju 52s ! The only other airworthy Ju 52 is the one owned by Lufthansa. www.ju-air.com
post subject If this is a serious question from the writer, he/she should get in touch with "Windscreen" the military vehicle trust group, some of their vehicles were in "Band of Brothers" and "Captain Carolonis? Mandolin. I have a feeling that tankpark has connections with them. Website is <www.mvt.org.uk>
There is a place in California called valuzat I think, and in New York called Duffle Bag Military Vehicle Rentals. Too bad they aren't in Europe. They have some shermans, Pz.IV's, motorcycles, studebakars, that kinda stuff.
At the time they shot that movie, it was still in service with the Swiss Air Force. I presume they borrowed one of theirs.
Spanish Air Force the spanish operated Ju 52s , Ju 86s and me 109, He 111(with rolls royce engines)until the 70`s. As a mater of fact the Stg44 design ended up in spain after the war, i think that the spanish developed a weapon from it. Kubelwagens are hard to find, BMW cobinations are not and strangly enough a Schwimmwagen with SS plates pasted me about six months ago, I almost crashed while trying to get a good look at it. Ironically, the Isrealis used the final version of the Me 109 and the egyptians had Pzkw iv as far as the 60s. The French made considerable use of the panther after the war also.
Re: Spanish Air Force The Israeli version of the Me 109 was a death trap. It used a different engine and propellor that the Luftwaffe birds, and was only marginally more dangerous to the enemy than to their pilots. The Israelis dumped them as soon as something better could be obtained.
Where are you located and where is the movie being shot. Do you want working ones or just static or both? I can get you the contacts and the method of contacting them.
have you tried the army surplus ? what about converting other equipment to make them look like WW2 equipment ?
