Erich, sometime I wish she were the stereotype. She a sharp one, a lot sharper than me, I need to be on my toes just to keep up!
I tried using linux one time, IMHO it is from the absolute very bowels of Hell. It took too much crap to coax it into doing anything like I wanted.
So how do you really feel about it Slipdigit? What distribution was it? Red Hat is trash, Ubuntu, CentOS and some other are stellar. linux is pretty damn powerful, it's how why I can run this site, and now another one ww2talk.com without hammering the server.:monitor: I did however, shame of shames get a HP notebook running Vista to access the web, post message, upload and edit graphics. So I guess I'm a two timer, just don't tell Trouble!
It was one of the RedHat gyrations, don't remember the number, it was several years ago. I guess that I have been managing Winders servers for so long, I'm used to them. I have shared the shop with Geeks that drive AIX other flavors of Unix and have piddle some with a couple of Unix boxes in the past, a NAS and web access appliance. Too much command line for this horrendous typist. I've not touched Vista yet, waiting on the first service pack and it isn't approved for DOD use yet.
Hello, I've just got back from France and posted some of my photos on there but noticed I'm only one of 2 members to be on-line. Where is everyone? I've tried to get into this Forum but my "home" is WW2Talk, Wessex Wyvern aka Owen D a 5000plus poster on that site. I would post one or two here but I can't upload images.
Owen, disregard my PM, I thought you couldn't upload photos to ww2talk. Do you have any problems accessing ww2talk? It should be as before.
No probs getting into WW2Talk, just none of me old chums are there. In fact no-one is there at all. ??????
Hey! Back from the green fields of France... and the rusty concrete no doubt? Nobody about? at 8.25 on a Sunday morning? how strange! Flush your cookies/Cache/temp/offline stuff mate and hopefully you'll find us properly... worked for me!
PM'd you mate. On ie7: Tools>Internet options>general tab/browsing history>delete> Opens options for cleaning. Temp files and cookies are the ones to flush.
sodding hell, I've cleared me cache etc, deleted cookies, now have to log into Great war Forum but it's had no effect on WW2Talk. All that uploading of images for my own use eh? Can you lot see them there?
PM'd you on how to clear your DNS cache mate, (didn't want to put command line stuff in public, but it is a very harmless command.)
I am now throughly narked. I've had to renew GWF password and this sites password too. As for WW2Talk I'm still there by meself, password still works even though I've done everything you said. Really annoyed after adding those images. Well I lived without the site for 2 weeks so tata. Bollocks to it all.
Come on mate, we've been waiting to see those piccies; it's just a minor techie hic-up. We need old hands on the site, especially ones fresh back from Normandy.
Paul, I've added loads to the site today but it seems only I can see them. Vernon, St Valery-en-Caux, Bruneval, Dieppe etc etc. I've even PMed you twice from there, have you got the PMs??? Anyway going up me Mum's soon so see what happens later. O
Damn right Paul, It's a minor update thing that will cure itself. Blame the internet & ISP's bizarre Domain Name System but not the site itself.
Do you really think this sad old git would not come back? Just a five minute throwing toys out of the pram. Ask the Mrs she'll tell you all about my little fits. See what happens later tonight.
