I look at Talk infrequently, but when I do I'm always struck by the amount of passion for the subject. Obviously, WW2 had a much different meaning in England and on the Continent. Kudos to all for their depth of knowledge.

Oh my stars! A NORTH AMERICAN bought the forum. This is totally uncalled for.

We'll take our toys and go play somewhere else...

How'd that work out for ya? ;-/

What a great synopsis of state of affairs during and immediately after the rescue of WW2 Talk.

A minor correction though. They initially whinged about an American buying the site (my stars!), then they discovered I was a Canadian living in Chicago, so the "insult" was appended with the North in front of American.

For those who remember the fleeting separatist movement, take a look at the domain being used here:

That was a very quick three lustra! The culture of a old-school 2005 era discussion board still lives at WW2Talk, what a sincerely great community. The word community is often over used, but definitely applies there.

Working through a few more major life responsibilities, but I'm slowly transitioning back into my webmaster role. If all continues as it now, WW2Talk will go to XF2 before Christmas.

When Otto/Grofaz rescued us (almost by chance) from the near-certain oblivion of 'web developer' ownership he promised he'd leave us alone to carry on being the essentially British pack of nerds we are on 2T.

    15 years on.
    He has kept that promise.
    Cheers, O.

    That is all.

He's the little boy who invites you to his house then actually let you play with his toys.

Well, I was on it last night and early this morning (c. 04:00 hrs.) and it was working just fine. But now, not so much. Does WW2Talk glitch a lot?

I was just about to start a thread on the 7th and 8th Royal Canadian Recce Regiments in Belgium and Holland in late 1944. Bummer.

    Edit:
As of 16:47 hrs. EST WW2Talk is back online.

    Cheers and be well.

Yep. That "life" thing he talks about keeps interfering.

It was a common glitch for the modern day: a credit card was cancelled due to a "fraud alert", a new one was sent as a replacement, but I didn't update the new payment method for the account in time.
Taking some steps to avoid such things in the future, but somewhat difficult to predict if it happens immediately prior to a scheduled payment.

We have very high standards for our sacred chickens here. These ones were obstinate about eating, and since they did not wish to eat, I forced them to drink.
