Hmmmmmmmm. I see this page states so, but I consider my source as definitely more serious, according to which more Austrians received this award. At least, this one is an "Austria's-nazi-past"-site, certainly not interested in military details.

As I said: The URL is extraordinary easily to guess.

Hmmm, seems there is no more try. But it is so simple:

    www.ritterkreuz.at

There you find that 495 Austrians were awarded the Ritterkreuz.

For the only try - over to Kai (hey I like rhymes) [IMG]

    Ok, thanx KnightMove!

    Something different:

What was the main reason that the Heer commanders complainted of the behaviour of the SS and Einsatzkommando action in Poland.

Uhm... please can you specify the time? After the invasion of Poland? During the uprising in Warsaw?

I think the main reason for complaining was that Einsatztruppen, in some sectors, were using so many trucks and other vehicles that Wehrmacht troops were forced to go by foot and could not progress at desired speed. I am sure this is true, I read that somewhere and I will try to find the reference but I am not sure if that is an answer to your question... ;)

HINT: SS men were during the Polish invasion court-martialed by Heer´s demands...Hmmm?

Brutality yes but the main issue behind? Co-operation was agreed upon before the war started.

I can give an example of those attrocities - don't know if its the answer -; involving SS Leibstandarte at the town of Radom, where the music chief of the division ordered the shooting of Jewish civilians, including women and children. General Von Reichenau presented personal complaints to the Führer.

Also, generals Blaskowitz and Stülpnagel complained about SS attrocities in their own areas of authority. And as they couldn't stop them, they wanted some court martials for the unsubordinate and butcher SS men.

Hmmm still the important motive why they actually put these guys into court missing...something that really pissed the Heer generals....

Last hint: leadership and obediance ( hope I wrote the latter correctly...)

This one is really tough, no doubt about that:) Well, after yougave the last hint, I will give it another try. Taking in concern all of the above, maybe the motiv lies in reason that Heer generals were outraged by the fact that SS-Einsatztruppen couldn't care less about regular Wehrmacht chain of command. In fact, these special troops answered only to Heidrich and Himmler and I think that more than few high German officers considered them criminals with license to kill anyone. And this is something that Wehrmacht officers couldn't approve.
    Hope I got closer now:)

    Srdo,

I have decided to accept your answer.

The final fact is that the SS was under the Wehrmacht command in Poland 1939 (!) and thus they should have asked for Heer generals´ and officers´acceptance on these massacres. By making own decisions they angered the Wehrmacht officers and this ended up in putting the SS men in court-martial. Hitler released these men almost immediately and showed the way of the future in handling the jews and other "untermensch".

How did Allies called dummy paratroopers that were dropped on D-day?

Not exactly about WWII, but here it is.

In 1938 two young persons were engaged, one was a young German II lieutenant in the cavalry and the other was a young pretty aristocratic girl.

Both were son and daughter of two German field marshals, very important ones. What is the name of the fathers and groom and bride?

    ;)
