    You got two correct but I don't recall the Ford's being used in combat operations.

    Think "flying boats". [IMG]

    The answer I was looking for was the Blohm Und Voss BV 138 flying boat but the Sm-84 will work.

    Gordon show me a picture of a three engine PBY and I will buy it for you. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Back to you Col. Hessler.

    Col. Hessler,

    Hawaiian soldier David Akui captured Ensign Kazuo Sakamaki on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor. Sakamaki was the sole survivor of the Imperial Navy's midget sub attack. He was registered as Prisoner of War No. 1.

    Oh, this one is good:

    What was the first target attacked by the US Eighth Army Air Force? Extra Credit for date and planes involved.

    July 4th 1942 they borrowed six A-20's from the RAF and together with six more regular RAF A-20's they bombed a Luftwaffe airdrome in Holland.
    Captain Charles Kegelman got the Distinguished Service Cross but the raid was not much of a success in impressing the Germans.

    TA,
    I don't have that down as being the first raid from my source. Where did you find that information? FYI, I have the first raid occuring on Aug 17, 1942.

    On Aug. 17, 1942, the 97th Bomb Group made the first U.S. heavy bomber raid. Twelve B-17s, escorted by RAF Spitfires, attacked the Sotteville railroad yards at Rouen, France while six other B-17s made a diversionary sweep along the French coast. All planes returned safely.

    There are a number of sources on the raid that say it was the 8th Air Force but I now find out it was the 15th Air Force that made the raid I was thinking of. :rolleyes: Here is a good one from Air Force magizane;

    The majority of the books I have in my possesion say 17 although one says 18 and one says 21. Since majority rules....I will go with 17.
