    Close enough

Poor/non-existant damage control, or it wouldn't have sunk at all!
4 torpedo hits, not really enough to sink something of that size/armor.

How many of the 300 "Flower" class Corvettes built by Britain and Canada were handed over to the U.S. (when it entered the war) as an emergency measure.
For whos emergency is unclear. All I guess.

    At the risk of cutting in line on Mr. Fleaman;

How many torpedos were fired off in anger by the Royal Navy (as a whole, including naval aircraft) throughout the war?
As well, how many were fired by MTBs?
As well, how many were certain hits, and how many were probable hits?

    Here are the numbers...unscramble them.

    The numbers are exactly backwards.

    7720 fired
    1328 fired by MTBs
    318 hits
    37 probables
    the rest, flotsam & jetsam

Wow ! that is only a 4% return on your investment. [IMG] Can't win any wars like that.

I remember reading Swordfish dropping some on their on ships by mistake when hunting for the Bismark but they did not explode.

I believe it's still Fleamans turn, but.
In response to TA152 I found another interesting fact about torpedos fired and hits made.
The Japanese fired 152 torpedos in the seven hour battle of Java Sea, with only three hits.
