Actually that’s a myth...they are black...black and tan...tan...through to white. Territory dingoes are probably the most pure, though that’s increasingly under threat...she’s getter better...still likes to chew everything, including me.
Canadian unsure about Aussy wildlife here. thinking dingos are beige. wild dogs are black. does AU allow ownership of wild dogs/dingos? we cant own a fox, coyote, or wolf. even hybrid wolves need a special license here. so...was it a dingo or wild dog that stole her baby? lol.
ugh. wrote long response only to have finger slip take me to some xno forum bs...hate this fucking phone. so, in short- we cant own any wild animals - fox, coyote or wolf... even wolf hybrids need a special license. wolves are now procreating (lol) with coyotes. creating a very dangerous animal. in fact, a rising Canadian folk singer was killed by a couple of coywolves in Saskatchewan a year or two ago. did you need any special papers in order to own a wild dog?
No shes a dingo...plenty of wild dogs though...some Dingo colours: And this is Dottie...Northern Dingos have no undercoat...so don't look as thick. It depends on the state as to the laws...you need a permit in the Territory. And yes the baby was taken by a dingo...deserty dingo...tan.
ok...I think I was confusing the wild African dogs with dingos. the African dogs do look similar to the black dingos, no? the Africa dogs may well be the most capable killers (packs) of all land mammals?
As for hunting, they run an animal death, they relay the run so a fresh dog is always on the animal. As kudu and the like don't sweat they eventually keel over from heat stroke. The Kalahari bushmen borrowed this technique.
Dingos are quick...My Dot has run down 3 whippets at the dog park...stays with them (to the surprise of the whippets owners) copies the left and right jinx perfectly, then the whippet starts to tire, but not Dottie...she then ankle taps them making them tumble, before they come to a stop Dottie is already on top of them...Speed and stamina is a deadly double for any predator. As you can see, they can bring down large prey too...
